These are just insane on so many levels from being 2pcb based, to the size, the power requirements to the perfomance to the cost :O

I do like the concept of the new motherboards with the dvi out and the on-board gpu allowing you to switch off your graphics card when you do not need them to save power and heat

I think I will wait for when they actually do a gpu like a quad core cpu

Whats next then? 10K1, 10800?

I swear hardware names are getting silly.

Probably with 3 power connectors for each card. It is nice that Nvidia are producing cool cards etc but they should stop what they are doing on how they make them and take a step back like the CPU companies to take steps forward.
In terms of the CPU Intel and AMD saw the issues ahead and the increase in heat, power to speed and went back and came with current chip structures of to day with multiple cores smaller and smaller nano meters and so less power and less heat

I am sure Nvidia can create at least a good duel core GPU with physics chip separate with and memory that does not have to be the size of a brick and have more then one power connector on it.
I like the idea of a basic GPU chip as standard and they could use that as a base to run the basics or as a throughput source and the graphics cards as the main meat of the rendering

nah, next theyll release the x800 series, then the x1800 at the top cards.  Then theyll progress along the same lines as using ATis old nomenclature.  Hmm, i wonder what would happen if i put a "9800 Graphics Card" onm ebay

I remember saving up for months to get a 3dfx card, it made the water in Quake 2 look cool :)

Its also quite common in servers. Render farms run headless graphics cards, have done for quite some time as far as im aware.

Probably but it is still a good thing to go with it it, why it would not work in the past is that motherboards were made for all, now you got sli and crossfire you either go with ati based boards or nvidia so nvidia I think are going in the right directions but as mentioned unlike the cpu companies are just dam right being slow about it and why at some point I can see ATI taking them over in quite a big way being owned by AMD

Duel Voodoo 2s took me soooo long to save for back in the day, now they are worthless!

Personally I think I will be moving over to ATi on my next build. :)
