had one, goo little board.  Wont overclock though, and the onboard graphics arent too hot.  The HD sound on mine died a horrible death, but im told the newer ones dont have the same fault.

Im having major difficulty getting the HD audio driver (http://img366.imageshack.us/img366/4973/gahhhhrealtekalc883gg5.png) (Realtek ALC883) installed in Windows, any ideas? Works fine in Linux (albeit only 2.1 is supported atm).
I think it might be that I accidently let WU grab an incompatible driver, which it now wont let me remove. :(

Try

Right click my computer/Properties/Hardware/Device Manager and delete them from there. Then install the ones you want.

You may need to reboot but dont let it reinstall them automatically.

simlar, but to expand you might want to chose the "Select Drive from a list", then browse to the directory with the sound installed on it.  Also make sure the BIOS Setting says that you are on the HDAudio not the AC97.  That caused me some issues, and the drivers asus supplied when i set mine up are sh*te.  Grep the real ones from Realteks site.

Im using the ones from here (http://www.4pcsoft.com/Drivers/Sound-Card/file_d20476.html), also tried the ones from Realteks site, same error message. I cant delete the device since "The system depends upon this device for boot-up" :|

I hate you Windows.

Never had windows XP say that to me. Might need a reinstall to cure it.
