Title: PC - TV Problem/Question
Post by: mrt on July 15, 2008, 13:33:57 PM
A mate of mine is having a few problems connecting his TV and laptop together.  TV is  42" Sammy and laptop is just a newish Dell.

His description was

"I tried plugging my laptop into my TV via VGA but although the TV and PC both recognized each other the TV kept switching off. Any ideas?"

Suggestions please; I kinda recall hearing this before

Thanks

Additional info

"Yes, is plugged in and the TV goes to "PC" mode with black screen. I then use the fn or properties to change to dual screen and click  off the TV goes. Have also tried different resolutions"

"I'll try to remember to bring the cable home. Well it doesn't go off properly. It clicks and the red light that usually comes on solidly when in standby, flashes. Couldn't find anything in the manual or online."

It might be a voltage issue, the PC supplying a lower signal than the TV needs to lock onto.

Sounds like Out of Sync problem..

Prob needs to lower his Screen Resolution if his screen res. is set to 1600x1200, then I doubt it would display..
Depends on how high his Plasma can handle. Prob best to set the screen res. on the laptop to 800x600 & work up from there
1024x768, etc. - unless you know the plasma is NOT HD Ready.

1080   = 1,920x1,080 (so anything less)
720 = 1,280x720 (or anything else)
480 = 852x480 (or less)

Have you tried setting the refresh rate to 60hz.
