As Apple released adverts on comparisons between PCs and MACs lately on the TV and net, almost everywhere to think of, I would like to see your opinions on which is better - PC or MAC.

Im intending to get a MAC soon too when the OS X Leopard is released. Seen the sneak peek pages of it on the Apple website and looks great!

White Giant

Never used a Mac personally, the demo I was given of a laptop seemed to be more about the nice icons than if it did anything.

Tongy

PC no question.

If funds where unlimited then MAC, as it is I use a PC.

Mongoose

PC, more versatile, more upgradeable, less expensive.

M3ta7h3ad

PC.

Postgrad in my house has a mac, and is of the same opinion of me. A PC when it breaks is piss easy to fix, if you have driver issues, or a program missing a dll or similar, you know what to do to fix it, and so you do.

A mac... if it breaks you just restart and hope that it isnt serious, cause if it is, itll have to be sent away and repaired at insane cost.

A mac looks pretty but ultimately now offers no benefit over a windows machine except for hardware standardisation.

redneck

if i didnt use 3d applications i would use a mac.

so much nicer to be on, better built.

Everyone I know who has a Mac also has Windows installed on their Mac. Thats enough to tell me that its not worth it.

Serious

If  you are just doing the basics then it doesnt matter. A lot of people are buying notebooks which are expensive to fix despite who you buy them off.

Otherwise the PC does have the advantage of familiarity and low cost replacement parts, this really should not apply any more as the latest MAC OS works on what is basically a PC. Its a damn shame that Apple just dont admit the truth.

The PC though, as in M$ operating system, has an advantage of more software and especially games.

Really the Apple computers are Personal Computers, so there is technically no difference in the question. If you were to be a bit more specific then you would put IBM compatible PC, but IBM dont make them any more. As Apple now use Intel CPUs there is no difference there either.

So the real question is between M$ OS or Apples OS. With some fidgetting you can get the Apple one to run on alternate hardware. I havent used the Apple one enough to decide yet.

A totally different question is how much do you trust them? considering Apples DRM over its itunes, and previously, I dont trust either.

If you are just starting think of Linux as an option.

From a strict hardware standpoint: PC. Depending on the manufacturer you can do a lot better by the environment than the filthy Apple as well.

they are all as bad as each other, there are no companies that dont use some of the "Nasty" chemicals.  Lead for instance is probably the best material for some high-dependancy components.  They have decided to ban its usage in many countries, despite the alternatives not being as good.

Im going to get a Mac when the new OS X Leopard is released. As for what Id be using it for....well, have better net access than the PC (IE and other browsers apart from Firefox are slow!), use it to play music on, chat to friends via iChat or the Mac version of MSN Messenger and also store my photos on.

I think compared to Windows, the environment or UI of Macs shown in both OS X Tiger and the upcoming OS X Leopard, are much more user friendlier than Windows.

Hey guys, it just dawned on me that Batch is the PS2 loving fanboy, guess he might be a Mac fanboy too :P

DEViANCE

ive voted PC, as i guess most people that use a computer for general internet, office, games, music, video etc would. but i beleive if you are doing things like webdesign, jorunalism etc macs are better.

2 completly different animals imo, but it seems apple are trying to lessen that.
