Looks well designed to me. The cooling solution is seem well designed and apparently very quiet.

Wow that is rammed, the heat must be intense, no wonder the demo boxes at events though not final even kept overheating.

Is it me or while the packaging is good and the top nice and shiney the build quality does not look very good, the conection holes, and the actual casing does not look up to Sonys normal standards, looks like the cut corners to keep the cost to what it is.

I think first 100k will probably run into problems as always over time things will improve but Sony, what on earth are you doing? :/

This is a good link
http://www.joystiq.com/2006/11/11/ps3-manual-details-hdd-battery-replacement/

Tells you about the hardrive replacing and if you see below they have changed the joypads at the very last minute and you can now remove the panel and change the battery yourself when the time comes.

Perhaps why the news delay was so thin and why they only shipped 80k of the 100k they promised.
And on another site the apparent reason for the lack of games are due to final conversion problems as a result of the complicated code of the machine and last minute interface and bios changes on the ps3.

I bet you anything those 80k machines were shipped out as they said in an interview a while  back 2 days or something silly before release.

I think its a little strange that Sony have now turned round and said that you can replace the controller battery yourself and tell you to open up the controller. I bet if something goes wrong with it theyll tell you its your fault as youve taken the controller apart and will charge you for any repairs.

Either they allow it and have to void the normal warranty norms in this way or have to spend money which they clearly dont have creating a department that takes in controllers and replaces the batteries and send them out.
Customers get cheesed off and they loose cash.
This way customers get cheesed off and either kill their controller and have to buy a new one or pay for a new battery and replace the old one.
Ethier way Sony make some cash, and who cares if the customer is pissed off.

Title: Interface
Post by: neXus on November 14, 2006, 02:39:11 AM
Now i love the psp interface, and its nice but only for a small amount of options

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JQ-eS_8x1PE

The ps3 seems to want to break all the rules about interfaces, Eeek
The massive lists and different slide new screens etc is insane.
