Out of the blue pipex rang up today and said i was getting 4mb broadband upgrade for zip. Nice.
Anyone else been rang up yet?
Nope, but I saw Nildram (owned by Pipex) had upgrades on, and I am now on my MAX Service, and have been happy with it so far.
Unfortunately I live away from the exchange, so about 5000 or so kib/s are reported in my router, but my DL speeds rarely shoot much above 350 / 300 kbs.. but half of the issue is finding a server that will dish out what my line will take, I am still not sure just how fast it will go. ho hum.. theory says (if the technology ever gets good enough) I can receive up to 8MBs.
I always get the full 448kib/s upstream though, which is fantastic - Flickr is easier to use now, ~50kBs there!
Ã,£25/mo, inc. all though.. (same price as the 2MB package, that I upgraded from!)
Jammy bar steward! I wonder if they will do the same to me. Is that for the ADSL2+/Max?
Yeah, I was on what Nildram called "Broadband2" and I am now on a MAX instead. So thats probably what Pipex call ADSL2, and the corresponding pipex max service
I assume Pipex would do something similiar? I maybe wrong, but they are pretty much the same company!

From the 1mb mate. My m8 richard got the phone call an hour later in syston. he lives nearer the exchange and they offered the full 8mb and said he will get 6.5mb speed.
They did mention over and over about the phone service mind.

Correct term is ADSL2+ although a lot of companies are dropping the +. Its theoretically capable of 16Mbits/sec IIRC.
Nothing for us yet :(

I read northern poofs wernt getting it due to them putting lots of gay porn on their computer :dunno:
Anyone know if Coventry is getting it? I got a withheld call i didnt answer yesterday and now im thinking ....
Maybe Eru, dunnu, Me, and my mate richard got the phone call but ben didnt who lives down the road, not asked him if he got one today.
The thing I am wondering now is when will it switch on? It has not yet
Could not find any info on the website either funny enough, thought that was a bit odd, may just be something they are doing for really long customers or something.
BT doing similar thing, but fooked it up, was meant to go from 2mbit to 6mbit but they screwed it and we had 42kb/s for a couple weeks back at 2mbit now they gonna have another try next week i think.
jaimz
Anyone had their call yet?
Stil not actually up here yet
Nothing for me up here in Dundee. My dad in West Lancs had a call and an e-mail though asking him if he wanted to upgrade.
Not heard anything since the phone call, nothing has happened, no emails no news on the site.
Odd
I have ADSL Max with pipex, and have to say youll see no real difference in speed over a 2Mb line unless you live on top of an exchange.
ADSL2+ Will be out shortly, in fact southern Ireland have had it for (over) a year, and you can get up to 24 Mbit speed off of it. One of my friends programs the cards that will be going into your local exchanges.
Moved to internet and networking as more appropriate.
