Sony Playstation 3 Console With 60GB HDD & 3 Games (Formula One 06/Warhawk/Singstar) (http://www.play.com/Games/PlayStation3/HP/3-/1032615/Sony_Playstation_3_Console_With_60GB_HDD_3_Games/Product.html)
All for the bargain price of Ã,£549.99
Where is Batch when you need some positive spin on all things Playstation. They sure have my preorder. Gives me a chance to make up my mind wether or not I actually want one, sell it on, or cancel the preoorder. :)
Lol, for that price they can kiss my ass.
Nah, I think Ill buy a Wii, four controllers, three games and still have a couple of hundred spare :)

Now thats a good plan.
Ã,£550... No way on earth am I paying that for a console that I dont even know that much about...
The games are Ã,£50 each, that should make the console on its own approx Ã,£400. Make that Ã,£430 since you would be "saving" Ã,£10 per game.
One side note, the Wii part of Play.com is live and youd think that since Wii is not much more powerful than an Xbox1 the games would be reasonably priced. WRONG! Ã,£49.99 Exactly the same as the PS3. The console will be cheaper but you will be paying next gen prices for games...
Nice to see another company jumping on the forced bundle with games you dont want option
Nah, thats just pre-order prices on play, Nintendo have stated that the games will be cheaper (first party ones anyway) than the competition. Iwata has said no more that $50 for first party. Even with our massive UK magic conversion rate they wont hit Ã,£50. Ã,£39.99 is more likely.
Yup, Id expect casual titles like Wii Sports to turn out to be even cheaper than that too.
Ive never wanted a Nintendo console since I had the N64 (which I still use, and think is great) the gamecube just didnt appeal....
but the Wii will be the next gen console Ill be buying :) Nintendo have really got it right, I think.. some innovation!! not just more processing power a la PS3 / Xbox.
The *only* thing that could make me want a PS3 is the fact itll have games made by polyphony digital.. *sigh* Shame they wont release GT5 on other platforms, the Wiis controller would be awsome, I think.
I think Goblin has the right idea here
They can f**k off tbh, I mean OUCH. Ã,£50 a game, evil.
Thing is going on the other thread, looks like the ps3 will have issues for many with it breaking so over Ã,£500 for something that looks set to not work properly is going to be fun for the people who pay for it, lol.
Nintendo are so going to be number 2 or number 1 now. I know I said they will die, but the more the info on the Wii has come out the better and better it is got. They could have done the wrong things but have done some lovley stuff and ideas. Still abit kiddie but will do better then the ps3.
can i just say:

391KB is rather big though for these forums.
And this is not the place to point it out or discuss someones signature size.
MOD WARS!
Ding DING
Round 1 FIGHT!
I can see a high game price forcing a lot of users into piracy.
For my Xbox, I download all my games and Im happy to admit it. But If I download a game I really like, I go and buy it. Ive got about 30 original titles.
Nor is this the place to discuss what you do or dont download ;)
I dont want to discuss it, Im just making a point.
Ã,£50 a game is to much in my opinion most console games dont last. but i suppose with consoles all going online now it will make play time last longer. as with most PC games i get are for the online play more than the offline.
That is a good thing with the 360, Achievements. Youll spend that bit more time on a game to get as many achievements as you possibly can, getting more for your money. Cracking idea. Look at the challenge to get 100% in GTA3/VC/SA. Once youve completed the story, there is still stuff to do.
I think the games need to come a long way before there worth Ã,£50 a pop.
I got mario for the DS, (Ã,£35) and completed it the weekend I got it. All worlds, all big stars. I must have put in about 10 hours play.
Ã,£35 for 10 hours isnt what I call value

an excellent point, i had a number of consoles in the past but their longevity was hampered by me getting bored and just forgetting about them... I went online with my DS and ive not put it down, games like Tetris and Mario Kart are enhanced 100 fold by the online option...

I think we paid aboiut Ã,£30 or Ã,£40 (was a very long time ago) for a tiny game called space invaders on the atari 2600, except it got played into the dust. Must have put many hundreds of hours of use onto the console. I only gave up because I was into infinite play teritory :)
I still play games that I bought 20 years ago on a spectrum.

edit: search playstation 3 on their site and it shows up as Ã,£425.
The longevity of a game is dependant upon what genre it is.
I never tire of a good racing game, but I will move on to other things with regards to FPS and RPG / Adventure games and the like.
The fact you can never finish a racing game makes it great value, Ive still got Grand Prix Legends and its one of the best IMO, released practically before I was born :P Ill get into it again, the day I get a steering wheel and the like all going again.

surely not much different to the original price of megadrive/snes games back in the day, relativly speaking of course
Chances are its a bit cheaper...

Most definitely - I remember paying Ã,£40-50 for some games in the early 90s!
there was uproar about paying Ã,£30 a game back when the MD and the SMS were out.
Granted, it cost more to produce a cartridge than a CD, but I still think they are taking the piss.

hardly - main cost is the software development - give how much more work has to go into it these days and how many more people are invloved/employed for projects we are actually getting a better deal than we used to.

There is the cost of the media and development, todays games tend to be a lot more graphically complex than older ones.
Ã,£549, Play.com and Sony can go and fornicate themselves.

SF2, Special Championship edition was pushing Ã,£65, easily... i remember the absolute pandamonium surrounding that game when it was released, you also had to shell out Ã,£15 for the six button controller... An incredible game at the time, though.
The price of the hardware itself is utterly ludicrous.
Street Fighter for the Neo Geo

Well any Japan beat um up.
Ã,£50 a game is still muh but The console price is silly.

exactly what a large number of people have said. Even with a "trade" discount a lass i know can only get one for Ã,£450. Shes ordered one to sell on instantly to the moronic.
