Just interested to see what everyone is getting and why, and I appreciate that both have slightly different target markets..
I'm going to get a PS4 for a number of reasons:
- I have a PS3
- My friends are all pretty much going go be on PS4
- PS Plus is a great value service (currently)
- I'm only using mine for gaming and BlueRays
Also does the fact that the PS4 will no longer support DLNA and your own CD/MP3 content impact this? I also find it strange that they will only have a 500GB HD, I don't see a lot of games fitting on this!
Discuss ;D
ps4 guaranteed launch day, but no plans on the games front, all meh :(
I'll be getting xboxone, mostly because I'm abit of a fanboy but also because I've allways had a 360 and I'm very happy with everything it does so if the one can improve on that, then good stuff :D
I've not preordered so if there is one in stock anywhere on day1 I'll get it otherwise I'm in no rush.
i cancelled a launch PS4 & ordered an xbox one.
Games more suited for me + its more of an entertainment centre.
Xbox One here since I wan't Dead Rising 3 and Titanfall.
I may buy a PS4 eventually since I do have a PS3 but they need to show that they have improved the online service before I start paying them for it.
I was 100% going for xbox one, but from reading reviews, the ps4 seems well above the xbox in terms of power, display resolution etc!?
Neither, both have a barren release schedule. I'll wait till the games that are worth playing come out.
I'm looking forward to using my vita to play ps4 games whilst taking a sh*t the most tbh
PS4 for much of the same reasons mentioned, though I'll be waiting for decent games to arrive. Not having something like GTA5 on PS4 is a miss IMO. They should have got another Gran Tourismo out the door or something like that.

PS4 is more powerful on paper but it will all come down to how developers utilise the power. The 360 had a more powerful graphics chip than the PS4 but the games that have come out recently show that the PS3 is very much capable of challenging that, so this time with the One having a slightly weaker graphics chip may not make much difference, it will all come down to the developers.
As for resolution, Forza 5 has been said to run at 1080p at 60fps. Yes some 3rd party games have worse resolution right now but these are first wave games and the devs need to get to grips with the hardware.
I'll end up getting a PS4 at some point, I do own a PS3 along with my 360, but for release I'll be getting the One due to the release games and the fact that Xbox Live is a proven service, what Sony has said it is changing PSN into is not.
I'm thinking of going with a PS4, but at the same time I really like Xbox Live and keeping all my accrued gamer-score, plus I'm not sure about the PS4 controller; the triggers on the Xbox One controller feel much better. But then I also don't like Kinect.
But Titanfall looks amazing! Daaaah! #1stworldproblems
Really not sure which way to go. :dunno:

The PS4 controller is much better than the PS3 controller. I've played AC4 on one but I still think it falls behind the Xbox 360 pad. I can't wait to get my hands on a One pad.
At this minute the difference in power is quite apparent if you want to play COD.
XBone is 720p upscaled to 1080p to get a smooth 60fps.
PS4 is full fat 1080p.
Also, there are some horrendous multiplatform titles on the PS3 compared to the performance on the 360. And finally, the architecture of both machines are terribly PC like from what I understand so its unlikely performance is gonna take a giant leap compared with older consoles having unfamiliar architectures.

Apparently while COD is 1080p on PS4 it has horrendous slowdown when there is a lot of action according to some sites that have hands on with it.
Just played assasins creed on the ps4, super smooth framerate, pad much better, triggers improved, will probs buy AC4 on day 1 now
I prob won't bother getting one yet... I got the PS3 in order to play GTA IV... obv got red dead redemption and GTA V now too
when another GTA/similar title comes out, I might get a new console - probably a PS4... but am not going to be rushing to buy one
Not sure if or when I'd get one, but it would likely be an Xbox as that's what I know.
Could quite well end up living without a TV though.

Sticking to PC, and sadly don't have the time currently to warrant purchasing a new console!

meh
lots of potential.
going to take a while for these next gens to get the developers to catch up.
nice how its all voice controlled.
xbox on for example will switch on my tv from stancby & boot the xbox up
so lots of neat ideas behind it. Game wise, I only got fifa & madden & they are the same gameplay all old gen, just neater graphics.
It's a good machine but missing a lot of stuff. There are very few apps available, so having to use the 360 to access the Sky app and others. Also, they have cut voice messages so you can only do text messages which seems like a step backwards. Another annoying thing is that party chat is turned off as standard when you create or join a party. Had to message a few people to turn it on after they joined me in a party. Being able to switch apps very quickly with voice commands is very good and convenient.
As for the games, I bought Battlefield 4, Ryse and Dead Rising 3. DR3 is loads of fun, crazy combo weapons and vehicles that you can run round and kill the zombies with and the Smart Glass app adds to the game giving extra missions and stuff. Battlefield 4 is, well, Battlefield but with nicer graphics. Ryse is a lot better than I was expecting. It's like the Conan game that came out for 360 in that the levels are linear but it has a good story and lots of violence. It is also the game with the best graphics I have seen so far, no jagged edges anywhere and it looks very movie like in the cut scenes.
Question I haven't seen asked, I guess since not many people use the feature: Can you rip audio CD's to the hard drive like you can on the 360? Does it have a visualizer and custom tracks?
Or is it all Zune/Xbox music?
And have you tried playing a Blu-ray movie yet?
I've played a Blu-ray and you are first required to install the Blu-ray Player app but after that it just runs the disc like a standard Blu-ray player.
Not tried audio CDs yet, may have to give it a go

Tried it yet? All I can find is conflicting reports.
Midnight launches R us round me tonight, frankly I can't be arsed.
Casual stroll up tomorrow morning I think when nobody is queuing.

Tried it last night. Put in audio CD, download Audio CD Player app, play CD.
No option to rip CD to HDD unfortunately. You can however, snap the Audio CD Player app to the side of a game and listen to a CD while playing. Problem with that is if you're game is a physical copy you wouldn't be able to use the CD app.
My ps4 is a lot louder than I hoped and expected

Put it horizontal, much quieter than vertical :dunno:
Received my second PS4 from Sony and it works this time
Just received some new Astro A50's today as well, hope they sound as good as they should.
Only been playing BF4 up to now, and I'm impressed with the difference between the PS4 and 3.
War thunder, ps4 free to play (pc crossplay also!) the absolute dark horse, well worth a download!
