so im going to be spending a fair amount of time in hotels soon, gonna need something to amuse myself other than a can of guiness and channel 5 on a Friday night.

Personally I prefer the DS all the way. Its just a great little machine with some superb games. Get yourself an r4ds (or latest equivalent) and a memory card and torrent yourself happy! :)

Id have used my PSP a lot more if it werent for one thing. And that thing is that god aweful ergonomics. The games I played that made full use of the psps power required the use of the analogue "thumbstick" which is nothing more than a small plastic pad on the left side. Couple that with the badly shaped and placed shoulder pads and after 20 mins playing your thumbs seize up and your wrists feel like youve had your hands hobbled!
Another vote for the DS here.
DS - so many great games, both pick up and play and ones you can immerse yourself in for hours.
Youre also more likely to run into another person with a DS for local multplayer shennanigans.

looks like a good deal, ds alone seems to be 99.99 then 30 quid for the game worth it? or just get the ds with on its own

Another vote for the DS here, picked up mine wiht a R4 card 3 weeks ago and already played it way more than I did my PSP :)

Theres plently about ATM, a quick google search found some.
However it arrived today but i cannot get it to work, just stays on the loading screen, tried alsorts from various forums etc but still doesnt get past loading, anyone got any ideas? i have the latest 1.18 firmware

I had problems with mine going to the touch screen to continue instead of booting from the R4 card, lots and lots of googling later showed that I needed to use the Samsung SD formater on the card before it was happy, did that and it solved it (cant get to the R4 forums from here to link for you). Next problem I had was things kept freezing and crashing out but that was caused by the contacts on the card not making good connection, unscrewing the card and putting a small peice of folded paper behind the contacts to push them out a bit solved that and now very happy :)
