Title: receiving no email
Post by: Coded on December 30, 2006, 14:33:28 PM
Ive noticed two topics about ETGlobal, but i seem to have a different problem.

Email dont seem to come through to any of my email address, the only emails i can receive is if say im 1@mysite.com, i can only receive emails from 2@mysite.com.

Anyone else had this problem?

There are (on this page alone) threads entitled:
"ETGlobalSolution Problem!" and "ETGlobalsolution.co.uk down?" so it doesnt seem to me to be an isolated case.

Please, etglobalsolution, sort out the problems.

Tried to send an email from my uni email to it and got this :

"This message was created automatically by mail delivery software.
A message that you sent has not yet been delivered to one or more of its
recipients after more than 24 hours on the queue on braint.aber.ac.uk.

The message identifier is:     1H0f4Q-0002Hr-5Q
The date of the message is:    Sat, 30 Dec 2006 14:19:32 -0000 (GMT)
The subject of the message is: asdf

The address to which the message has not yet been delivered is:

  my email address

No action is required on your part. Delivery attempts will continue for
some time, and this warning may be repeated at intervals if the message
remains undelivered. Eventually the mail delivery software will give up,
and when that happens, the message will be returned to you."

Sounds like too much partying, and not enough adequate monitoring (With something like sitescope) has resulted in SMTP server shaftage.

It doesnt seem as though the ETGS support system is working, https://www.etglobalsolution.co.uk/support, however I knocked the s off the http and got some sort of page but have received no reply.

If you could give me an address that I can receive a response from I might not need to post here in a thread started by someone else about an, apparently, non-isolated problem.

Hey guys. Quick update. The main server has died, and is currently being looked at as a matter of urgency. I hope to  hear from the engineers early tomorrow morning.

Edit: With regards to the email problems, server kept experiencing high load due to a bug with exim, which kept causing it to terminate. Should be sorted soon :o)

So... Can you confirm ETGS isnt actually going down the pan? I Know nitesh said the hardware side was booming, and that ETGS had taken a back seat, but then he said he was sorting everything out, and things would be back up to spec within a few months... I noticed the ebay store is empty, and im getting concerned, as ive signed up for a few accounts recently, with the important ones being my own business and someone elses - So as you can imagine, im getting in slight trouble for all the downtime!

Any help would be much appreciated

If its not going down the pan, can you explain why my site and e-mail has been down AGAIN since last night?

This is getting beyond the joke, e-mail is up and down and my website is unobtainable more and more frequently; people rely on these things for business and personal use alike, so i suggest things need to improve, im not happy - not happy at all and if there are any more serious issues i will moving host and letting every person i know why AND telling them to avoid ETGS.

The machine is refusing to boot, and has engineers looking at it. It had a software malfunction at the beginning of last week involving exim (the Email server) which degraded and caused the machine to die. Engineers are looking at it now to see if they can get it back online.

14 hours of overnight downtime doesnt mean a company has gone down the pan!

No it doesnt, but the way in which it functions can decide whether or not it does... I need my e-mail as i have banks, businesses, friends, colleagues etc. contacting me through it, i need to know e-mail which is sent to me is going to be received and if it cant ill go elsewhere. I understand the technical problems, and i sympathise but you guys are in the business of webhosting and recently the webhosting has not been up to scratch at times.

Hes right there. 14 hours down might not mean company is down the pan but it sure means your loosing clients. I imagine you must have business clients with whom your now breaking SLA surely? If not then your not winning much good business in the first place.

Yes, and Im doing my best to answer any questions Im asked. The machine has been rebooted and still not responding, so an engineer is looking at it *now* and trying to get it back.

Ill keep you all posted.

Im with etglobalsolution (my website is conceptex.co.uk), and have had some problems with them recently - i.e. my website would be up one day and down another, and it only receiving some of the emails...

But a couple of days ago my website and email completely went down, along with:
etglobalsolution.co.uk
etglobalsolution.com
kcart.co.uk
mindslap.co.uk
modded.me.uk
(They own these websites too)

And as some of you may already know... they NEVER answer their phone, even if we could get the number - which we cant - because their site is down.

This is ridiculous, our ordering system is hosted on our website along with our company website..... my head is going to explode.

Vent some frustration? I found this review site: http://www.webhostingstuff.com/review/ETGlobalSolution.html

Quick update:

Machine had issues with binding IP addresses correctly, and exim was using crazy amounts of CPU cycles which caused the software to crash. This problem has now been rectified and mail queue has been flushed. No email was lost, only kept in the queue (You should receive it all at once).

Secondly...

The number given goes to Nitesh Patel/Crocket - Who has been on holiday (Which is why hes not answering his phone). Which is also why Ive been in charge in the meantime.

Quote from: adam0rUse of the term back up loosely - Still having problems even though the machine is actually online! (Again, being worked on - Yes, even at 2:17am on a f0rking Friday night!)

So thats Saturday morning then... Good luck! ;)

Im just glad Ive swapped hosts now. It was surprisingly painless moving joomla installs across.

Im just wondering if its possible to get 11+ months worth of hosting refunded as I want to cancel my account. id ask but the chancecs are I wouldnt get a reply until 12 months have gone by :(

Tekforums isnt ETGS support, but tis should set alarm bells ringing in ETGSs head when their customers feel they get better support on an unaffiliated website/forum...

Most of the people are on this forum anyway so its easier for them and it lets all the other members know if there is an issue.

My stuff isnt important, I just use it for storing photos that I use here along with a few texts. It isnt a proper web site at all so it might as well stay put for the moment.
