Title: Recommend good PC case.
Post by: dogbert on December 11, 2006, 14:15:33 PM
Ive rebuilt  a couple of PCs into one decent box...Please can someone suggest a quality PC Case?

Tagan 400w PSU
AMD XP 3000 (2170~Mhz)
Asus NForce2 Ultra (400mhz FSB)
1GB Kingston DDR 333Mhz
PNY GeForce 7600GS 256MB AGP
2x SATA Samsung 60GB (Raid 0 ~ 160GB)
Creative Sounblaster Live
Multi Region DVD
DVD +/- RW Multi Layer

Its my Games/Multi Media rig and as such gets pushed hard, currently playing Company Of Heros & Dawn of War & EVE & Swat4 & BF2 along with MSN - ICQ - TeamSpeak - Email - DVD & Picture Editing

Here is my dilema;

The case I have is total s4!t. It was a cheapo Ã,£20 purchase which I modded to peices when I was watercooling.

Since ditching the watercooling Ive had a nightmare keep the PC quiet as well as cool, its time for a decent case that can direct airflow better than sneeze in huricane.

Budget is Ã,£200 (Inc Delivery) (PSU optional)
Must be have at least
4 x 3.5 Bays
3 x 5.25 Bays
Mounting for 1 or more 120mm Fans.

I would highly recommend this one; especially for when sneezing in hurricanes

Lian Li PC-V600 or PC-V1000.

Several people on this forum use the PC-V series (personally I have the full tower PC-V2000) - its the shizles.

The Antec P180 is a stunning case. Id choose that or a Lian Li PC-Vx000 having since much of the cases that passed through Tek firsthand.

I rate the cheap Asus TA-210 or TA-211 myself. I have 2 as the shells around my beasts and they look good.

Cheers

There is a LianLi 6010, though its lacking its fancy fish side panel.  Ive had a play with one of those, and its a nice case.  They also have an Antec 1080, though it uses 80mm fans ive always found that they are quite good if you don;t want water cooling.

Thats for the input guys, I;ve finally chosen the AntecP180 from Ebuyer.

Ive always had high temps on my PCs and watercooling was the miracle solution but chips designs are changing to fast for the extra cost of always buying new blocks and the hassle or redoing the tubing and rigging.

Cant wait for my shiny new case.... 8)

The new Antecs are fantastic.

The internals were co-developed with the editor of SilentPCReview. The Antec Fusion is based on the P180 but in HTPC/Desktop form - I use it and its a stunning design :)
