google has disabled there old maps system (classic maps)... which I used for planning delivery routes at work
only system let you have 25 destinations, which wasn't enough, but I could just use 3 different maps in 3 different tabs and it worked pretty well... bit of a faff but I was pretty quick with it (plenty of practice)
but the new maps only lets have have 8 destinations... I'll be on all day if I have to use 7 or 8 maps....
(I add all the destinations, then move them around and into the right order)
so I'm screwed.... 46 deliveries spread across 2 vans+drivers going out tomorrow and I've got no idea what order they should be in...
can anyone recommend decent downloadable route planning software ?
if I can bulk add locations (post codes) and then drag/drop them into order while looking at a map, then it'll be perfect, don't care about any other features!
Maybe http://www.gebweb.net/optimap/ does something like what you want? possibly even with Bulk add
Motogoloco. I use it for plotting motorbike trips but should work for you.
as bad as it sounds.... Microsoft autorout is pretty good!
(not called microsoft map point)
99% of what it does is useless to me... but it shows you a map, lets you bulk add post codes (import from excel works well)
and it's automatic route planning / optimisations is pretty damn good too !
(guessing the online ones limit the cpu time it'll devote to it or something btucause they're terrible)
slight problem... it's been discontinued ! :-(
managed to download a trial, will crack it later on
no updates is a bit crap, it doesen;t recognise some of the newer post codes :-(
(I'm googlinglocal post coded and using the next street / around the corner etc..)
