What a joke.
Installed the drive, put the software disc in expecting it to let me select PowerDVD 9 only and it has installed about 9 random pieces of junk that i've just removed again.
So, PowerDVD 9 installed, i popped my Bluray Disc into the drive thinking to myself it must be time to watch it now and boom an 80MB Update downloading at 50kb/s from their server.
I know this might not bother some but ffs having to sit through this just to watch a movie, another case of punishing the genuine buyers. :thumbdown:
Is why I have a huge media server and the first thing I do after buying a Blu-ray is rip it.

Does ClownBD do an actual player or is it used to RIP only? These Blurays i have are 45GB a piece and uh Knighty has the spare drive atm :D
Just rips (you also need something like AnyDVD-HD). If you want to encode to a smaller size you have to do it yourself. The annoying thing with Blu-rays with how the disk keys work is that every player software has it's own special hidden decryption key. So basically no-one can make player software without paying for their own (expensive and revokable) keys :(

I thought that might be it, my software says i can change the code 5 times before it locks itself, what a load of old crap. :P
That 5 change thing is for region codes (so you can't play US discs). The code I'm on about is one that each piece of software has (ie, powerdvd has one, windvd will have a different one). If the code for a piece of software gets discovered so it can be used in other software or something, your blu-ray drive can be 'updated' by new blu-ray disks to disable that specific key, so the software using it can't play movies at all anymore. It's all a bit paranoid really.
