While sadly it looks like a second series will not happen :( the sequel looks to be still going on. It has been on and off with wheldon saying no then yes But recently he has been touring doing a number of conferences etc in regard to his shows as also serenity came on hd and blue ray and a special edition and has been talking how serenity 2 will be going ahead at some point and that the story MAY need to be put over a trilogy.

Shame about a series death really because at least 2 seasons would have been cool but another movie and least will be nice :)
Just got the Series on DVD not long ago and although I didn't rate it as highly as say the first four series of Babylon 5 or the early Stargates it still didnt deserve to be cancelled so soon and should have been allowed to continue.
Still new movies sound good. :thumbup:

You can not compare with Babylon 5 , full story arc planned from start to finish made for a series that had understanding and as not like x-files where you missed one or two episodes and you would be lost for the rest of the show ever (taken, 4400 do that as well)
It was just a top show and I have been picking up the dvd box sets now and again as they are only 10-15 squid on

Anyway, your right not quite at that level but it defiantly should not have been canned so early and everyone knows it was money related over anything else. The movie has and still is becoming quite a cult classic and recently got the sci-fo movie of choice above star wars ^^
Voyager for example was good, it was nice, but I never felt cozy with the crew and casting, the only one for me that actually felt he fit the role was the Doctor
New movies will be nice as long as they do not loose what the series and the first had but you have a good cast it works which I think is very important and why bab worked (script as well of course) and stargate and farscape - good cast working well and fitting the roles well.
Just have to correct you neXus, Serenity was released on HD-DVD but not Blu-ray as it is released by Universal, who are HD-DVD exclusive.
Would love to see a second and third movie released but Whedon has been saying that he wanted the story to span 3 movies since Serenity launched, so unless I see some proof Im not gonna get my hopes up.

Yeh I've known about it for months, it's up for pre order on Play.com btw.
There is another in the works as well and if they both do well we could expect more straight to DVD releases according to JMS.
I am looking forward to see a Serenity sequel, the first film was OK, lack a bit of budget but the story was good.
Just finished watching the series again, damn id like 1 or 2 more seasons!
