Title: SLI issue
Post by: Serious on April 19, 2008, 14:07:37 PM
My brother has decided to go for a new Striker Extreme MoBo and 3Ghz Wolfdale. He already has a pair of Asus graphics cards so they should have gone together perfectly well.

The problem is that Asus own graphics software doesnt recognise that the PCI-E slots are all 16X and thinks they are less than 4X so wont run in SLI mode.

I have been told this may be a problem with compatability between Asus hardware and the Wolfdale processor, anyone heard anything about this? or a work around?

TIA

[edit] the Graphics cards are a pair of 7900GTs[/edit]

Has your brother got the latest BIOS flashed for his motherboard & the latest motherboard drivers installed too? Its also worth a check in the BIOS settings under PCI-E etc.

Just updated the bios to the latest and have already checked the settings in there before I posted.

ATM Ive swapped him my 8800GTS for his as my main compy has SLI too. That should do for the moment.

Seems though that its not identifying the HDs properly now though, so hes using my Mobile case to play on.
