Title: Slingbox
Post by: Tongy on December 21, 2006, 21:50:34 PM
Ive recently stumbled upon a rather natty little gadget for viewing streamed TV/DVD etc. over the net.

Since I live in France and dont have Sky, I thought it might be quite useful.

Its going to be a strange setup and 900 miles between me and the NTL box but it could be excellent if the reviews are anything to go by.

http://www.slingbox.com if you are interested.

I have an 18mb connection so download isnt the problem, theconnection where the ntl box is has an upload of 384kbps which I hear is enough to be fine.

Does anyone here have one, or ever used one before?

Cheers

I was going to get one, but decided against it when I realised you can only output 1 stream. Theres hacks that allow a few more, but I wanted to be able to stream to unlimited devices

Well I have installed it in the UK and it was remarkably easy to install and get working.... however the throughput massively increased the temperature of the router causing it to drop wireles.

I am really impressed with it though and, although the scope of the product is limited, I think it is excellent.

Remember *not* to use it to watch TV while driving, some of the Police think that doing so might distract you from paying proper care and attention while driving. They tend to take a dim view of that and try to fine you and stick points on your nice *clean* licence ;)
