Hey Everyone,
Just recently my comp has decided to be slow during boot up, sometimes when loading things up too like media player or applications it can usually take a while. But more noticeablly now the comp has frozen a couple of times while on the desktop (last did it last night after i exited World of Warcraft), and also the other night while on YouTube i got my first BSOD on this comp since iv had it lol, i didnt bother noting down the BSOD error code as the speakers were making such a loud bass noise so i just restarted the comp, about a month ago i did a Maxtor hard disk check and for both drives which are maxtors, the back up drive had no errors, but for the main drive within the first 10 secs of the test it found several errors and the test ended straight away as it just failed... im not sure why but does anyone else have any surgestions of why i keep getting slow boot ups and generally random slow situations?
Thanks - Liam
Try hdtach, it should show a smooth graph with not too many spike iirc
Barts bootcd also has a lot of hdd diag tools on it.
Ditch the hhd if it cant get through a test.
Make sure your dvd drive works first, dodgy ones that cant read data will slow boot times.
