Now and then my PC starts smelling, its doing it now, its not a electrical, Ive changed my PSU, Memory, Graphics, DVD and Hard drives, the weird thing is, it does nothing, my censors report the same temps, occasionally my PC crashes overnight thats all, I cant get on my knees to smell, thats a pain.
its still smelling now, it took 10 minutes to post this, the PC reports no extra heat.
what sort of smell? check your wiring imo.

i did and i blew it with compressed air, this is about the 15 th time, its still working fine, these forums arnt.
what it smelling off? could be a dead mouse or somthing....
shower ffs.
typical, I left it on all night to keep it smelling, so the Novatech engineer can smell it, it has stopped. its not a dead rat/mouse smell, id say its like hot plastic,
a friend was here, when it started smelling, he could not find it.
May sounds stupid but you sure it coming form your computer? Spent AGES looking for source of burning plastic smell in my room to find out it was seeping in from outside via the fireplace.

thats what I thought and was told, but its definitely coming from my PC, its doing it again now, whats worse is it gives me a bad head ache.
I sit about 12" away from my PC all day its never off, I move the keyboard in and the smell is worse, my pc is below.
I have similar to this, I sit in front all day.
Could be a previous user trapped and decaying under the motherboard.

I wish it was as easy as that, its the wrong smell, for decaying.

air cans get very wet, wrap them up.
Have you checked the cd-rom drive for cheese sandwiches?
my Occupational Therapist said the room smells, I said its my PC, as she walked near the smell got stronger, she confirmed its my PC.

You wasted your OTs time with your personal PC hygiene .... honestly! -)
You could just spray it with Oust!
EDIT: Perhaps it is your OT that smells and you are blaming your poor old PC :heehaw:

ok
take everything out and run it outside of the case
Thats a sensible suggestion if you know how.
You may find the smell is coming from inside the PSU or somewhere else not visible/accessible, it could be a wire touching something hot and the plastic smouldering, it could be quite a few things. You need to isolate the component causing the smell as best you can.
Or submerge the whole thing in oil, ask knighty about that.

I do know how, but this stupid disability stops me, bending over and sniffing, perfect, impossible for me, how stupid.
Its a pain in the ass this f**king PC, my headache is bad, I cant even swap it for Leilas, Ill insist Novatech replace it.
If its under warranty ask Novatech, There are quite a few things that can smell, including the capacitors. Its very difficult to detect which component(s) are to blame unless you have the computer in front of you and are able to do so.

I think its the capacitors, I cant sleep thinking about what it can be.
Novatech fitted a new Mobo that fixed it.
Good that they managed to fix it quick. Capacitors are the first thing to check if you get a smell.

they were quick, considering they sent a engineer here, he was good as well.
Blimey, that was quick turnaround.
At least you got it working ... you should still check for cheese sandwiches in your cd-rom drive.

I had no faith in Novatech, my previous experiences killed that, its all restored now, they do a live chat now as-well.
