Title: Sound Card Reccomendations
Post by: Thrawn on April 21, 2007, 00:36:43 AM
Ok so I just installed vista. Im on fiarly old tech - NFS-7 v2.0 with an xp2500, but its running fine, (1.5 gb ram and the g.cards ok - x1600). However vista does not like my onboard sound, it will ouput sound ok but it wont input. Tried using some realtek drivers and the nvida ones meant for xp but with no real success.

So I want to install a new soundcard that will be vista compatible and have reasonable input output quality. Doesnt have to be particulary great as I dont really have a great sound system to go with it and im upgrading the whole pc this summer.

So what card? Looking for less than £30, preferably less than £20, there are a few on tekheads (audigy 7.1 etc) for less than £20 - are these going to be completely compatible with Vista?

I picked one up from Maplin as a stopgap that works fine. I paid £12 for it... They have it as an 8 channel white box sound card with SPDif out...

Will do for the short term until I can bag myself an upgrade.

Check them out...
