I've spent a good hour now trying to find some simple software that will allow me to stream music from my computer/network at home to my office computer and it seems there is nothing good out there.
Options so far seem to be Foobar2000 with a plugin component thats a lot of faff
Windows Media Player :gag: (no FLAC support either)
iTunes & AirPlay? (as above + )
Spotify, but I don't want to pay to avoid ads and I already know it doesn't have everything in my collection
Any thoughts/suggestions? I took a glance at building my own web server with apache/node and streaming from that but thats the buggest f**k about going.
I could copy my music collection to my office PC via USB pen, but I'm not keen on the idea as it's not exactly kosher.
Seems I might have found an answer:

This is actually really good and quite a doddle to setup via web interface, just need to test it externally now :tinhat:
Have you had a play with Plex as all?
I'm now becoming a Plex fanboy!
Basically I have access to all my media (and my friends media) where ever I am, and on which ever device I want it!
It streams via web/dedicated software/ phone apps/ tv apps/DLNA and also supports airplay if you have an iphone (although haven't tried it)
Just added my music collection in now and it seems to work, although I expect depends on if you want to build playlists or just play albums.
I use googleplay music seems to work for me, takes ages to upload all the music the first time though.
I didn't look at Plex actually, but this is quite lightweight and seems to work great for what I need it for, I won't even have to install anything at work, just load the web interface from my browser using my IP address.
Check out Style Jukebox.
The app automatically syncs your music across all your devices. It support Windows, Android, iOS and Windows Phone.
No. Not with this sort of advertising practice.
