I really want to be able to watch my media files while I'm away from home, I can ftp or remote into my server to download them but really I want to be able to steam them rather than download them.
I should have the upload capacity but i'm not sure how to go about it technically. Has anyone come accrosse applications that allow you to stream video files on demand?
Server to Mobile Device (Android/iOS) Plex is awesome. But server to PC remotely plex doesn't have a windows client yet so thats out and I haven't found anything to do it all :(
I currently use Air video for streaming to my Ipad it works really well so long as the wireless at my location has a ½ decent signal.
Not used it myself but http://tversity.com/ is meant to work quite well.
Been doing some reading, Air Video is fine for apple devices but want stream to PC.
TVersity is meant to be very tricky to setup and use.
Subsonic is regarded well from what I have read so I might give that a go.
Subsonic seems to work!
Grabbed the installer from http://subsonic.org/, added a few media folders and now I can play video through the web interface.
More investigation and maybe a guide to come!
