That said I suppose the new Fallout games worked well enough and captured the essence of the original games well enough. We'll have to wait and see.

Fallout was never about tactical espionage and team operations, comparing the two is apples and oranges. Syndicate probably has more in common with that new Men of War: Vietnam game than any FPS shooter. It was incredibly challenging because of the need to plan missions, wisely choose firearms, positions, entry and escape routes, avoiding police intervention. More often than not with many repeat attempts necessary to avoid chaos ensuing. This is probably going to be so namby-pamby anyone with a modicum of ability will be able to gung-ho their way through it. :disappointed:

This will not be a Bullfrog game in the slightest. 90% of EA games are rehashed drivel now, this will be another bland FPS with pointless and trivial game mechanics introduced to make up for the fact its going to be dull as a turd and to try to pretend that it's not just another FPS. At best they will come up with an average Deus Ex clone with co-op guided gameplay forcing you to play online to accomplish missions with the same teamwork aspect. At worst, we'll get another DNF level atrocity with totally-linear missions, interwoven with cinematics to make up for the fact that it is essentially just a single player FPS.

QuoteIn a 2006 interview at the Leipzig Games Convention for Gamespot, Peter Molyneux said that he would like to revisit some of his old efforts, but adds that it is very unlikely that will happen. But Molyneux makes one possible exception: "Aside from the licensing complications, some sort of next-gen online version of Syndicate would certainly be popular with gamers."

Shame his visions for his own game will never see the light of day now EA has the ownership.

Half of the fun was the system screens, setting up missions, R&D etc.

Calm down matey. I was making a comparison based on the fact that Fallout represents a top down game re-made into a first person game, nothing more. So comparing oranges to oranges then.

It's alright, the ranting wasn't directed at you for your comparison, more ranting over the fact I can tell already its going to be a huge disappointment.

Original post has been updated with some screenshots.

I wish it was point and click like it was, but if it looks like that count me in tbh.

This is indeed true. Even if they tried in every way to make it as similar to the original it would still be a let-down compared to the original game, there's no soul in games any more, especially when EA are involved.

EA GAMES

CHALLENGE EVERYTHING

Interesting news:

http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2011/09/21/paradox-announce-cartel-interview/

Not long until the demo of EA's offering comes out, promsing co-op multiplayer and other such niceties. Personally, I'm more interested to see how this 'Cartel' game shapes up...

I'm still playing through the port of wars..... I'm up to mission (well mail) 12 iirc but it's hard... and it keeps crashing on me... it's been 100% stable up to now...

I'm not sure if it's just this mission... or there's something wrong with my install ?  it did seam to freeze during install... so i cancelled it but it still all worked... will have to keep trying !
