i dig and dig and dig and find f all.

Ive had my greatest levels of success just above bedrock level, so my advice is bore straight down to bedrock, then go up maybe 5 blocks to make sure youre clear of the bedrock and make yourself a mine base station (largish room with chests, a work bench and furnaces). Now pick a direction and start cutting in a straight line, youre bound to hit something eventually.

Also gravel is your friend, it often hides things and is easier to excavate than rock, so if Im mining and hit gravel I always excavate it all.

If you go back to the main base, theres loads of diamond tools.  I spent bloody ages earlier mining, exiting, saving, relaunching to make sure they stayed.

What do we want to do about ops and admins?

handy trick, make a copy of the minecraft folder as a back up once a day or whatever... then if it goes tits up or someone gets on and destroys everything all you have to do is go into the backup and run that one.... no need to change any settings/options etc :-)

p.s. hows it doing on cpu usage ?

I agree with this, and IME if you find dirt and gravel deep underground it is definitely worth excavating it all as sometimes it leads to whole other chambers or skeleton dungeons.

I added your server to the post on the first page Soopah.

Usage is barely noticeable, except sometimes the server complains it cant keep up.

Minecraft folder, is that the one in appdata?

I still want my pigs back though!

SsssssssSSsssss..... :P

Walrusbonzo

Has anyone rode a pig yet, did that yesterday :)

Got some TNT too, just not used it yet. :D

zpyder

Other tip is quite often there are cave systems under the bigger hills/mountains. These tend to have rare materials exposed inside and are quite a bit more fun to explore than just mining out a hole a few blocks above bedrock/lava.

Anyone found my base yet?  :yarr:

Top of the tower is the ceiling of the world. So Im already standing quite high up where I am.

Mongoose

crap! I was mining and fell through the bottom of the world! now Im lost in space.

Be careful in the room of bedrock at the bottom of the mine!

Sorry Clockd I have your tools, was going to return them but I seem to be a bit stuck for now. Hopefully Ill be online later and someone can teleport me back to the surface.
