Title: Terrible PowerLine speeds
Post by: addictweb on January 09, 2012, 12:37:30 PM
I've just setup my Powerline plugs (BT Comtrend Powerline HD 200Mbs (http://www.pmctelecom.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=3733&gclid=CInRzOT5wq0CFYEhtAodQC-SAQ)) in my new place. I ran a network bandwidth test with a little app and I'm getting around 2MB/s between my NAS and my Microserver, when connected directly through the router I get around 15Mb/s.

Is there anything that can be done about this? Would another brand or Gigabit pulgs work better or it is the case that the 1930s wiring just isnt upto anything faster.

Sounds like your wiring is ancient and awful to me, have you used to Powerline plugs previously and know them to get good speed?

I'm not a fan of powerline stuff.  I've never got it working reliably.

They were certainly faster in my previous flat but I never needed to benchmark them. They were capable of streaming 720p but  not 1080p which the current speeds are not.

Pain!
