For those who have bought the microserver to turn into an XBMC home media server, post here
your idea's, tips, etc.
Bit skint atm, so I could only stretch to a microserver & GT210 video card as it has sound built in & carries sound over HDMI
no extra ram yet or a SSD HDD - plan is to do a SATA install & then see how small an SSD I can get away with.
This is going to my build.
Main Spec :-
HP Microserver
Zotac GT 210 Video Card - low profile with HDMI (supports sound over HDMI)
wireless-n adapter - unless I can be motivated to run another cat cable.
Remote control :-
I have just ordered
http://www.aliexpress.com/product-fm/362441787-wholesale-3in1-wireless-keyboard-controller-remote-for-ps3-wholesalers.html
£20 with delivery. some guides http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=HOW-TO_Setup_PS3_BD_Remote for a remote.
I also need to order a bluetooth usb adapter.
Software :-
Probably going to be Ubuntu with XBMC
Doing a similar thing as i posted in the computer section. Once I actaully get building it I'll post more.
Whats that gfx card like? Hardware decoding?
I've not done much in terms of pcs for a while but I have an aTV with a broadcom hd decoding card and its essential for an underpowered computer.
I have been looking at those microservers but cant justify it at the moment what with moving house. My plan, eventually, is to wire 4 cat6 cables per room in the house and have a server that will serve media throughout the house.
my graphics card arrived yesterday... microserver due on Tuesday
the 210 will handle decoding for anything video wise you throw at it which is what I want from a low powered fanless card for £27 :)
getting my drives ready... copying 100gb of mame stuff over atm
