It is a uniform location to grab apps by developers like you do on your mobile device. Anything free on the web you can get is there and free etc.
Software has access to some new code with the OS update that replicates the software update availability and so on.
This is also a step to the next OSX as well as this will have even more integration with more IOS like features and the ability to run IOS apps on your mac as well etc.
so basically yes, its pkg_add/yum/apt get (delete as appropriate)

No Package that you install the app yourself. You press to get it the app and it downloads and installes just like on the ipad or iphone.
wouldnt that make it a dmg downloader?
If it does you do not see it.
If you grab an app it just does exactly what it does on your iphone. You get it jumping into your dock and the install bar and its installed.
I can not find any dmg or package file left on my machine from it.
clever sh*t. just had a kernel panic from mine upgrading it. sorted it with help from a thread on insanelymac, so will give this app store a looook.
