Anyone have any experience of the broadband service that Three are offering?
Seems quite attractive to me as I only have my land line for BB and with 3G BB i could get rid of it. Also its possible to faster speeds than my phone line.
Cheers
Rob
I use 3G as a fall back service for when Virgin is down.
Its ok but the speeds you get are dependant upon the equipment youre using (3G or HSDPA) and your reception.
I get a shocking mobile reception and my mobile is a gen.1 3G device. At best I get ~384 kbps down (and up) but I know that would improve with a better phone. Currently T-mobile HSDPA is ~3.6mb, with 7.2mb due 2008 and 10mb in 2009 (apparently).
edit:
Its worth mentioning that Im on a Webnwalk (or something) tariff with T-mobile. The tariff gives me *unlimited web access as long it is from a phone.
edit2:
Ive just upgraded the firmware on my Vigor2910 and it now supports using a USB 3G modem. I just thought it might be worth mentioning in case you want to go down that route :)
* I mainly use the web via a bluetooth connection between my PC and the phone and I am yet to have been told off :)
In my experiance its a lot better to use than the Vodafone datacard. Both performance and ease of use.
Plug it in and your away, the software auto installs of the USB device.
Yes it is rather quick, especially more so in areas of god coverage. Again I use it in fall back situation, and testing from the other side of the firewall on client sites.
cable :)
No phoneline... just cable, and 20mbit and voipage :D
^ eh ?
Are you saying that Threes broadband is a 20mb cable service ?
im saying that having a landline for broadband only... sucks.
But rather than ditch landlines for expensive temperamental, and slow (in comparison) 3G internet. Why not just go for cable?

So coverage in churchs mainly then?
Sorry meta, wasnt trying to be picky. I just thought that maybe Three had a cable deal with Virgin that I didnt know about.
3G is slower than Cable but potentially there is little between it and most ADSL services.
That said, I shouldve mentioned that latencies over 3G can be shocking :o
Living at the top of a mountain in north wales doesnt really make cable an option  if it was available i would definatly have it though
decided i better keep the land line as its on my business card, will have to make do with my 1mb tiscalli.
