I am in two minds, while looking at it as a fan of the original - Yep that is thundercats but while it has a little edgyness to it it is a bit too kiddy. I think they copped out. Samurai Jack showed you can have a bloody cartoon kids love, cartoon makes should stop trying to be PC.

I'm all for modernising (and violence), but Thundercats was never about bloody violence. I think it would make the whole thing work uncomfortably, this looks like a very good revision, it should be as close to the original as possible in style, just with better animation I think.
I don't think they copped out at all. Thundercats is and always was a kids TV show, thankfully this will be primarily a kids TV show as well to get a whole new generation following the Thundercats. I think the cop out would have been if they would have aimed it squarely at the twenty and thirty-somethings who grew up with the original cartoon.

I can't put my finger on why, but it bothers me that Tigra is packing heat.
I mean, I know all the vehicles and the Cats Lair had thumping big laser guns on, but I'm pretty sure the Thundercats themselves only ever used melee weapons.
I'm also not keen on the way they've drawn Panthro, but TBH it could be much worse. It'll come down to how they handle the stories, will they stick to the ideals of the original, or just use the name to sell it and ignore what Thundercats was about?

Probably not clear... It could be much like clone wars which was good (The cartoon rather then the CG ones) which had a nice style and "edgy"
It could be. They say they want old grown up fans to like it. Shows like the Simpsons show you can have adult humour that goes over kids heads so I am sure you can make rich stories and "Grit" that kids can watch.
Wonder what the target age group is, what was Thundercarts of old? Early teens?
I'd say more like ~6-9 as the actual target audience, although of course some of us continued to enjoy it well after that (actually still do, a mate of mine has the box set and I am not above watching the occasional one).
you're looking at kids still young enough to play with action figures on a regular basis, I know I was most into ThunderCats when I was early school age. I had just about all the figures plus the Thunder Tank and the Hover Cat, but we couldn't afford the Cats Lair so my Dad made me one out of wood. It was just a couple of boxes on top of each other really, but in my minds eye it was the Cats Lair no question about it.
