Title: Transformers Part 2
Post by: Sam on August 02, 2007, 06:43:18 AM
Quite possibly oustanding. Totally not what I was expecting.

I was expecting a slightly bad action flick. What I got was the worst film I have ever seen, a complete and utter pile of festering turd. A film so bad it truely deserves a place in the pantheons of sh*te. It was outstanding for being so far below what I could have ever imagined was possible to make. I would have rather cleaned the london underground with my tongue that watched that.

What depresses me more is the fact it has received (on here anyway) universal praise. This simply gobsmacks me. Am I the only person with any taste in films? Perhaps we saw a different film. Honestly the human race has hit a new low. I am now distancing myself from the rest of humanity. Someone even called it the best film of the year. Which it would be if it was the only film released. And even then it would struggle.

The effects were fine, nothing outstanding really, some robots jump about. The acting was, well, there was none. The lines took cheese, added cheese, burnt the cheese and ended up with carcogenic cancer causing post-cheese fungus. It was so so bad I cannot find nouns to describe it so I will invent some. sh*tenessturdiness. KillmenowbeforeIeverherethewordbayagain.

I was actually spitting this film was so bad. I am pleased to say the people who were around me were laughing and nodding at my increduality that anyone liked it. They may have been laughing at my new comatose state, but Im sure at least one agreed with me.

I should have known better. It was so bad I now think the day after tomorrow was a good film.

Please excuse me while I gouge my eyes out. Goodnight.

Not too sure why you started a thread.. Good and bad opinions of a film could be discussed in the same one!

But if thats your opinion, cool :)

I can honestly say Im suprised you rate it so poorly.  Im not to sure what you expecting.

It was a film done by a director who knew absolutey nothing about transformers and managed to direct something anyone can enjoy without knowing anything.

Yes the acting was cheesy, in fact non existant.  The plot was a simple as it was going get, giant cube that creates life, bad robots want it to create more of themselves, good robots want to destroy it to end the war of power.  Anything else and it would have been a transfomer geeks film.

What they created was one of the most well done family suitable action flicks in some time.  The cinema was in absolute stitches last night.  What impressed me with the CGI was just how seemlessly it fitted in with the actuall real physical objects/people being filmed.  The scene at bens house looking for the glasses especially.  That boombox transformer was imo the best done.

The only thing that really annoyed me were the shameless plugs.  "This is so much better than armaggedon".  The wolverine plug I imagine was becuase the writer did the X-Men film.

I suppose I shouldnt tell you Transfomers 2 & 3 is listed in IMDB.

lol I was left with the same taste mate. The cheese factor wanted me to burn my eyes out with a hot iron.

The action scenes I liked well because im a guy who likes action movies, but christ... "SECTOR 7" bollocks grew long in the tooth almost straight away, and I just wanted to twat said S7 head honcho in the face.

Havent actually bothered to watch the whole thing, and Im not in any hurry to do so, but I heard a clip on the radio the other day, demonstrating the insane mix of dialogue vs effects on the audio track - seriously, hiding the fact your film has no dialogue by making every word nearly imcomprehensible is bad mmmkay.

Another marvellous piece of film-making keeping pornographic sensibility alive and well in mainstream cinema.

why the new thread?  Youre allowed to dislike the film in the same thread as other people liking it you know :P

Its not your sort of thing.  Could have guessed that tbh so suprised you went to see it.  Or people invited you along at least.

Personally I thought the cheesyness added to the film.  It was a film where it was so cheesy on purpose as to be funny.  Youre not really supposed to sit back and go oh my god, the acting is bad and its so cheesy.  Kind of misses the point a little.  As for the comment about the sound effects muffling the dialogue?  Well I guess you havent seen it so Ill just let that one slide.

The cheese is why its so well done.  This film could easily have taken itself far too seriously and been a killer robots wrestling film.  It was never going to be terminator so why would they bother trying to be so serious.

Its not well done at all though.

Theres Cheese: Monty Python esque...

Then there is cheese that would be more suited on the chucklebrothers.

Transformers Cheese is even worse than the above. I myself find chucklebrothers amusing, I found myself wishing my way past the cheesy sections to get to the action.

Granted its a "kids" film, but the way the trailers were done it was punted as a sci-fi action movie.

Yes Ive only heard one reviewer mention dialogue, I heard no such problems caused by sound effects though, dialogue was clear and easy to follow.

Thought it was very average.  Granted special effects and action sequences were very well done.  Not expecting story to be top dollar, but the cheese factor really put me off too.  It could have been a lot better.

Although, if you have not seen Die Hard 4.0, well I would highly highly recommend it if you had to choose.

I think its pretty obvious that a few people went in desperate to hate it no matter what the cost. But hey, if thats how you get enjoyment from your money thats fine by me.

Im not going to argue with the folks who didnt enjoy it,  different strokes for different folks and all. I just thought it was great. Better with a third viewing and a far better action flick of the summer than Die Hard 4.0 ;)

Yup die hard 4.0 rocked too (although its hard to say that wasnt a cheesy film).  Cant wait for the final Bourne either.

Think next couple of wednesdays for us are:

8th harry potter (the girls want to see it)
15th Rush Hour 3 (release 10/08/07)
22nd The Bourne Ultimatum (release 17/08/07)

so all good :)
