Just a general comment really, Ive just completed my second Trapeze certification and have been working with the kit for quite some time now
God DAMN that is some good gear. It blows EVERYTHING else clean out of the water
Ive been putting it in in a large hospital - 4,000 wireless users, and here comes the coolest part.
They have WIRELESS COMMUNICATOR BADGES THAT YOU TAP, THEN SAY CALL XYZ AND IT RINGS THEM - these are for the consultants/surgeons etc
You can also use the badge as a tracking device withing the hospital. I can track clients to within a few feet in the building.
We have set up tracking on all hospital equipment so we know where it is to within 1 meter - why would you do this? Devices need calibrating every so often, so when the day of calibration arrives, the tech dept get a notification - with a depiction on the map of the hospital exactly where it is (To within 1 meter)
Were running the wireless throughout the site to their pdas and wireless ip phones, and also those staff with company mobiles can roam between gsm and wifi/voip with NO drop in the call.
Wireless has got so good. Im looking forward to getting my hands on the n radios
Putting a large system into a factory soon - looking forward to that.
The beauty of it all is there are guys to do all the leg work - I just have to configure the switches, access points etc
Ive got some (unrelated) stuff from work thats all under NDA.... Some good stuff coming for the end user soon!
Competitor to trapeze?
The amount of stuff their gear is doing already is great
Theyre about to release single port PoE for 802.11a/n, on the 802.3af standard - something which noone else can do yet

I had that idea years ago too. but I was about 12 and had no idea how to do it. I might have just watch star trek too.
Nah, TR-69 with next gen dooberies

Mighty cool. How does that work? Is the call started from a VoIP Server and while on GSM data is just piped to it via Internet and when back in wireless range switches back over to WiFi?
There is a gateway aye - and call is set up there when they roam into the wifi area, and seamlessly roams
roaming between the APs is so quick you dont even drop a single ping

Not seen Trapeze gear at all but it sounds like a very swish setup! Nice :)

No - an ISP, evaluating a router manufacturers offering. Were testing a whole range of models from different suppliers to see who well be going with for our free hardware that we supply to new customers.
Anything is better than a BT buisness hub.
