Any hardcore backup or homebrew users may want to try this.

Yer i was just reading about this... lovely news. Like to see how long it takes untill update is released over live to stop it or untill they start banning people using it.
After having chipped xbox 1 i decided when they hack the 360 i would buy a seperate dedicated one untouched and another one i could hack to bits and keep offline
This will not allow Homebrew. It will only allow backups or pirated games.
making the backup DVDs is a bit of a pain in the ass tbh... When a couple more games come out for hte xbox Ill switch across to this system but right now Im going to hold off as I occasionally use live for game updates.

QuoteA few folks are asking about the Microsoft response to Optical Disc Drive (ODD) hack. We sent out some messaging when the news first appeared, but since more information about the hack has been released publicly, were revisiting. The bottom line hasnt changed: we take attacks on the system seriously, both to protect the security of the system, and to prevent piracy.
Here is the official messaging:
The core security system has not been broken. However, on some Xbox 360 consoles the authentication protocol between the optical disc drive and the console may be attacked via a complex software and hardware modification which could allow people to play illegally copied and modified games. We continue to invest in the security of the platform and will respond appropriately as unauthorized activity is identified.

They are taking the approach same as the piravte video is going... "Dont use pirated stuff becuase it wont work and you will be wasting money" which we all know is a lie :P

The source is microsoft, how often do i expect their stuff to work???
I just dont see this beeing a viable option for the end user, only a serious hardware hacker would know how to apply the hack which allows them to run pirated games. Its just not viable...
I dont know... given the amount of tutorials out there anyone with a small amount of computer knowalage should be able to pull this off. It is however alot of effort :P
Haha. (http://www.xbox-scene.com/xbox1data/sep/EEulkuFkykSyphsMUv.php) Nice one MS.

Im not even going to contemplate this mod/hack as I love Live! way tooo much to risk losing my account.
I tried to logon to my live account from my Xbox1 the other day and found out the serial is locked out of live which im not sure how its happened. I was always so carefull not to go onto to while chip was on :( its a shame :(
