I went down my mates house last weekend and I had a go on hix Xbox 360. After playing a few mins, I have instantly loved it.
What I played at the start was Dead Rising. My god this game was brill - being able to play this game how you want it, and how you want to kill zombies!! I could not believe that I could throw CDs to kill them, or even place a lego-type head on one of them and then take a pic to get a status of Outtake!
Then, I went on some classic games. First, I went on Smash TV. I couldnt believe how good this game still is! PS3 didnt have this available! Neither did the PS3 have Streets of Rage II. Another instant classic.
Then I went to play a demo of Bankshot Billiards 2 and I can see how this game is addictive if the full game was unlocked.
Uno is another that I liked. Bringing back memories of playing this with family now able to play on 360 against anyone online!
The final game played that night was Texas HoldEm - another game that I thought was addictive and can see the online part of it being brilliant.
I left my mates house in amazement. Now I have ordered the 360 Elite and I going to get the Live Vision and the wireless adapter and getting it from Dixons as finance - meaning I pay £38.90 a month for 10 months.
Now, I am thinking of getting games for it now. Can anyone give me recommendations as to which games to get? I am going to get Bioshock, Stranglehold, Prey, Quake 4, Saints Row and Rainbow Six Vegas. Also I have pre-ordered Halo 3.
i guess your not into racing since theres no mention of forza motorsport 2 or PGR4
Binary Shadow, Im planning to get PGR4 but when is that out?
not sure.. not long tho
Hmmm... According to GAME, it is releasing on 12th October. May be getting this then with my Bday money :D
It is a great time to be or go to be an xbox360 owner
Project Gothum racing 4, Halo 3!, Mass effect, Rock Band, Assasins Creed, army of 2, Call of Duty 4, Burnout Paradise has a fan base, Guitar Hero III, just to name a few
You may have been better hitting the bargain websites... It allowed me to get an Elite for £246 on 20 weeks interest free :) Bargain.
It does mean I have to wait for my data migration kit :(
why u need a data migration kit?

To get your saved games off one hardrive to the other because he had a normal xbox and stuff on the drive, the drive is smaller and you want your stuff on the larger drive so MS provide a transfer kit you can grab.
HD player is the dogs on top of the elite, loving the hd movies and I really am having a bit of fun checking out all my dvds to see which upscale very well.
Band of brothers the other night was stunning, really did look much better. Was disappointed with the lord of the rings movies, they did not upscale very well if at all.
Monsters inc and finding nemo were great as well but they are pure digital so I was expecting they would look better.
Can not wait for halo 3 the recording feature and screenshot ability sounds both dam clever and brilliant as well
And batch, I would not call it the darskide, Blue ray is the better format but to pricey and the PS3 bar the poor controler is a good machine but crap os memory usage and a pig to code and just badly done in all areas by Sony, some nice games are expected to arrive at some point, true they mainly all 1st part and to few but still good.
It is just Microsoft bar the hardware issues that have plagued the machine done everything else right, xbox live and arcade is just gold dust and 2nd time through very very good and the games just keep coming
Rock band - drums, online co-op play to boot as well as the ability to record the performance - oh my
Its not all save games. Demos, videos, XBLA games youve bought, expansion packs etc are tied to the HD. You need the migration kit to allow you to connect the 120GB HD of the Live and the 20GB HD on to the same system to allow you to move the data over. Its only an issue if you already have an Xbox 360.
I do recommend the HD-DVD drive for the 360 and signing up for a rental service such as Lovefilm.com who rent HD-DVDs (and Blurays).
I agree Nexus - I aint selling the PS3 once the 360 arrives cos I want the best of both worlds. Playing games not on PS3 and vice versa.
Deaths Head - I wont need one then thankfully as Im a new 360 gamer :)
Havent read any comments and just read your 1st line but i remember you always being a playstation fan and calling us fanboys! but now you know... we were raving becuase its so good :) Sony have fallen short this time and it doesnt look like they will recover fully
Opinions have changed though :)
However, I think both consoles are good in their own ways.

But the problem is the good bits about the PS3 will never shine and here is why...
It is still a pig to code
1st part developers will only be the ones truly pushing the machine with the odd exlusive 3rd party title but these are getting few and far betweens as more and more games go multi format or Xbox exlusive
The development system - xna is brilliant and now open to the public to create their own games of which are now appearing on xbox live
Developers are either going to success - xbo360 for exclusives OR they will go multi format to garuntee they will get their money back and then make profit. When you go multi format you need a starting point and currently and it will look set now to always be the 360, becuase they have had a longer time to be able to optimise their games under the machine, and developers like working on it as well.
So they will produce their games on the x360 and then just make it work on the ps3.
As a result PS3 games will always look the same as the 360 and will have FPS issues for a while yet as well.
This was what happened to the Xbox, better then the ps2 by a mile but the games did not look that much different overall becuase everyone was cozy with the PS2 and development was for that first then the Xbox
Only fault is Sony though for this, releasing it to late with far to much tech and for to much cost, which is rather sad.
Yeh I agree. Sony should have put the console at £299.99 at least, and also released the PS3 a year before.
Anyway, back to what games I should get..
Is Bioshock worth getting? I heard critical acclaim for this on all sites and magazines.

Its good but I was not keen, tbh Halo 3 is days away, get something else and then get that when it comes out, You could even get halo 1 and 2 and play through them so your all clued up for it, seen halo for like £4, and halo 2 for 5-10
Already preordered halo 3 :D
you actually list some of the weaker games out there on the XBox. Dead Rising is good for an occasional blast of stupidness but its a tough game to get into single player.
You probably want to be looking at Bioshock, Gears of War, Forza/Project Gotham as musts. The new halo etc will be along in a bit plus some others. Have a dig around on xbox live for the small games like Cloning Clide. Some of them are VERY good. Sure theres a few lists of them on these forums already.
Great thing about Xbox Live, most games have demos available. The best thing to do is check out reciews for games that tickle your fancy and then get the demo.

I bought a 360 mag which had a book free which reviewed the XBLA games available (apart from a few that was released recently like Streets of Rage 2 and Sonics 1 and 2). Ill be using that to pick out the best XBLA games to get. :)

You watch or read a view to see if it is in the good or crap pile but you need to play them and DH is Right, Live is brilliant as everything, even arcade games has a demo to download for you to try it out. tiger woods has almost got me buying it for example, if it was not for the fact other games I want and funds how they are I would have bought it allready
Will try them - however, some games Ill be getting without trying such as Smash TV, Uno, Texas Hold Em, Sonics 1 and 2 and Bankshot Billiards 2. Others Ill try out. :)
tbh, with Live Arcade games there is no difference between the Dmeo and the full version, they are the same file. You can download the demo, decide to buy it and it will "download" the full version almost instantly as all it does is unlock it.
Bankshot Billiards is still one of the most expensive games on Live Arcade... Although, I think I remember saying you have played it already.
Yep. I have played Bankshot Billiards 2. A good game.
What is the limit of people you can add to your friends list on the 360?
Quote from: BatchWhat is the limit of people you can add to your friends list on the 360?
I think its 200, but am not 100% on that.
If thats true, then thats cool cos its way more than the PS3 which only allows 50!! Thanks for the friend request earlier TheMallRat
If you like Gran Turismo then definitely get Forza 2. Brilliant models/tracks and damage is very realistic.
Im pretty much addicted to it right now :)
Havent looked into PGR4 yet. I have 3 although got bored of it pretty fast, too arcade like for my tastes.
Gears, COD4, Bioshock, Pro Evo 08 and Halo3 should also be on your list.
Bioshock is stunning - Id highly recommend it. Also Forza 2, MoH Airborne and Call of Duty 3. Prey is a lot of fun for less than a tenner too! :D

4 looks better with more modes and has bikes but still arcadey, I do miss the first as it was far less arcade like and with every version it has got more and more arcade like
xbox360, aaahhhhh...now this is living....
cue halo 3 jingle
I cant wait to Halo 3. Roll on next week :D
I was going to not buy a PS3 unitll at least next year but Ive come on to a bargain of a deal (arrangement).
The only question is. What games are there atm that are actually good? Im still wating for GT5 & MGS4.
I was going to get an Elite console the coming week, but this oppurtunity get up. My only reason for not having a wii as of yet is I see it more of a party cosole, at least I have enjoyed it more so far in group games.
Most of the good games are ones that are on the 360 at the moment lol.
Motorstorm and Resistance Fall Of Man are great though.
Bioshock is great. But Forza Racing is amazing as well :p Go get Forza Racing :)
