volt modding USB BELKIN F5D7051 ?

giving u lots o nice graphs telling u how much gain u can get
coupled with a sink could be prity good

how to attach a ariel/pigtail what ever u wanna call it .. might have to reg to view

checked the SE2521A60 after about a hour of use and its not even warm,
so i recon its safe to say there not pumping alot of volts into it already
and as belkin is usless at giving dbm rating on there products im having to work of
adverages .. checked specs on 13 other usb adapters i could get specs on and they adaverage
between 13 - 17 dbm in G mode so im guessing the belkin might be around 15-16 ish

ill get a multi meter on it later to find out proper v

oh using it without its plastic casing gives an extra 2dbi in netstumbler
just shows how the simplest of things can knock ur signal down

checked the voltage its at 3.3v .. so can easy put another 0.7v into it
just not sure of the best spot to or method to do it?

pull directly of the usb, drop resistor zenner maybe?

anyone got any sugestions?

i have 2 belkins .. got one to test performance diffrence against the modded one

just need the best way to get 4v directly of the usb cos it gonna be a nightmare
soldering to any other parts

well, usb is +5V, isnt it? rather easy to work out a potential divider circuit to give you the required voltage.

yeah its 5v .. just thought i could use 2 rectifiers in serial should give me 1v drop but
supplying half wave to the SE2521A60 might cause problems?

well not half wave but pulsed

look at the first pic. Z2 needs to be 4 times greater than Z1 to provide 4V Vout. Z2 and Z1 need to be big enough to not draw too much current, but not so big to limit the current to whatever mod it is that youre doing. Easy enough to work out.]

shouldnt have any problems now... well only 1 maybe, read up that usb port can only supply up to 500ma.. hopefully thats just for laptops cos i dont know how much the belkins draw it says max 500ma on the box, hope not or im gonna have to find a adapter

usb will only supply 500ma... and thats not just for laptops.

Why are you using rectifiers on a USB output? I thought it was 5VDC?

u sure .. nightamre .. ill have to start with real low ma then

was gonna use it for dropping the v to 4v cos thats the recomended max v for the se2521a60

but Maldonado idea is better and less chance of interferance ..

Im not responsible if you break anything. Dont take this the wrong way, but if you didnt know about potential dividers before you started this little exercise, then you need to question whether or not its prudent to go through with it. Are you actually having trouble with your wireless dropping out?

no offence taken .. lol.. i woud have probably used a zener and a resistor or rectifiers and a resistor .. but ur method is alot better ..... i know im probably gonna blow this up 1st try but i have one spare so i can still connect no matter what happens ... i have a bit of a bad connection but it works fine most of the time and it does me fine, currently using quite a large horn atm which gives me a 16-17dbi boost

but this is just another experement , want to mess about with long range links at some point figure the harware is more the place to start .. i mean u can always make bigger antennas easy
