Unbelievable!!

First OS I have actually bought windows 7 and now suddenly its coming up with windows is not genuine!!! Why??!?!

The amd catalyst software errored on start saying no AMD device is installed.

Just ran the online activation wizard and it wants me to buy another copy!! WTF!!

I cant see anything in device manager :( even in safe mode, and in safe mode theres no product key or activation options.. nightmare

I nearly did but 6p a min! hell no!

Ran a restore to the 22nd using system restore, the OS still said it wasnt genuine but did allow me to complete activation and its working ok again... for now anyway!

I had this issue before on a genuine install, i think i solved it by activating or re-activating the computer online, i think it downloads the genuine advantage tool and confirms you are running legitimate windows, either that or i reinstalled, i'm sure there was something on knowledge base regarding this, but as always i cannot find it. :P

Yeah i thought i could just reactivate it but it errored every time until i did a system restore.

I've got an MSDN Office 2010 that's started saying it's not genuine on my desktop.  So I "patched" it.

I would just assume your disk is an oldish one, early release or something as mine was, and loads of people seemed to have issues after SP1

Parents comp wanted them to activate after I'm sure I did it when I installed windows 7 for them. It was a strange one indeed...

My friend just purchsed the student deal for windoes 7 and after many hour pissing about with activation failing i just loaded Windows Loader in the end :P

a search on the above for Microsoft yields several numbers one might try to avoid their rather overpriced helpline. I haven't tried any of these numbers myself but worth a try perhaps?
