Theyre still pretty much sold out worldwide (http://img329.imageshack.us/img329/1412/akihabarafj0.jpg), and when places do get stock, its all gone in a few hours.
Its the same with the Nintendo DS here in Japan. I was very lucky to get a Wii on launch day. :)
