Serious

Only problem Ive had is with the on board lan acting up, not a problem with windows 7 itself.

Now having to repair the network connection every time I reboot to get it to connect to the internet. Something has gone very wrong in the last week :(

Just got a new HDD so I guess its time to sort everything out so that Win 7 is on the C drive and not D now...

White Giant

Fine for me, just wish I could move the show desktop button back to the left.

/Cue Google links . . .

In what way does this not work?

Mark

It seems to be working now!

I have proper wireless (Because we resell it and I have trapeze lab gear), and until recently I had to use crappy PSK, now I can use radius again.

Ive had WPA-RADIUS / WPA2-RADIUS on XP, Vista & 7 with no problems other than the fact that troubleshooting is a lesson in guesswork as then a range of problems are covered under the same generic error messages!

Mark

Using what wireless gear though?

And which EAP type or offload?

same problem... it happened when I realised I was connected wireless, where as I prefer wired. Disabled wireless & evey time on boot I had to unplug & plugin the network cable.
Removed the NIC from device manager, rebooted & its been fine since.

Various.

Access points I can say worked for sure are HP AP420s, Netgear WAG302s, a cheap-o Edimax and Cisco Aironets.

I cant say for sure which EAP setup I had with which APs but in my parents house with AP420s..

- Domain joined machines auth via computer account
- Non domain joined auth via certificate and fall back to MS-CHAPv2 if no cert

The company Im thinking of with the Cisco Aironets used smart cards but I dont know the detail of the setup...

Mark

Its always worked on everything except windows 7 until recently, always using trapeze, as its the best. It was most likely down to drivers.

The aironet access points will be irrelevant as its the controller where the eap processing takes place. Theyre big piles of dung anyway :) Were currently doing a buy back and replace with trapeze for customers. Leaves me with about 30 tonnes of access point and wireless controllers in the garage!

That 802.1x policy as you describe (via IAS Im assuming) is fairly standard, and would have been exactly as we would have been trying at a few sites. The debug logs on the controller always looked as if the authorisation request was denied, or that quiet-time had been exceeded. Bad drivers likely as above.

It seems to have fixed itself now that all the updates are finally done :|

On the vista reinstall it was having similar issues, but this was solved by uninstalling the netgear software, which seems to have clashed with windows even though it was told to piss off. It was the quickest route though to install the drivers for the wireless card though.
