You mean that you get the alert "your firewall is turned off" every time you connect to a network?
You dont have to turn it on, but it is advisable.
Do the following to turn it on.
QuoteTo open Windows Firewall, click Start, click Control Panel, and then double-click Windows Firewall.
On the general tab, click "turn firewall on"
If you use the Advanced tab to turn off Windows Firewall for one or more individual connections, the Windows Security Center will report that the firewall is off, even though the firewall is still turned on for other connections. Also, on the General tab, Windows Firewall will still be set to On.
I dont know. Do I have to turn the firewall on? Every time I go on the internet, I end up right-clicking the icon by the clock in the bottom right, and go change windows firewall settings. Its always turned off.
Either turn it on and it will stop popping up.
Or, got Start --> Control Panel --> Security Center --> then on the left hand side there is a Resources title. At the bottom there is a link saying Change the way Security Cetner alerts me. Click that, then untick everything.
Windows Firewall is a pain in the arse anyway, i just use my Hardware firewall on my Netgear router :D

That hardware firewall lets everything on your computer out to the internet, its only selective about what comes in. This is usually why you run a software firewall.
And if you use Wi-Fi its best to have a software one on every PC anyway.
