I'm not sure what it is but every now and again XP will not shutdown, log off or restart?
It's not a hanging or freezing problem as it will not even attempt a shutdown down it just ignores the command, I've checked for viruses and spy ware. I've also ran scan disk for HDD errors but all came out fine, so I'm a bit at logger heads at what the problem could be?
One thing though is the computer will shut down if I type in the shutdown command in the "Run" box so it's not that it can't shut down but that if I try the normal way Start > Shutdown etc it wont work.
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop\AutoEndTasks key
Set that value to 1
.Worth a try..

Didnt work.
Its a weird problem beacuse if I go Run "shutdown -s -f" or "shutdown -l" it will shutdown and log off.
Ive no idea why it just started doing this as the last bit of software i installed was IE7 about a week before.
Try a defreg? i had a very simiular problem with my old system before and it did this, a simple defrag seemed to of fixed it.
