Im looking into how to make a Wireless Antenna, an Omni directional antenna thats bigger the better to get a big range all around...
Im also looking at making either a PoE injector or a WiFi booster to boost the signal of the network.
Can anyone suggest where I would start looking? Ive been searching on google but maybe Serious could help ? ;)
I would like it for all, b/g/a/n wireless protocols if possible but b/g are the main ones.
Not much help but Id be interested as well. Fed up of my signal being intermittent based on what appliances are in use in the kitchen!
The output is limited by law unfortunately. there might be a few out there offering slightly more power than average but you may have a hunt getting one.
Thinking back some of the base units BT are supplying might be the most powerful.
BT Homehub 2.0 is kind of kicking arse in the ways of home Wireless in my eyes, had a good go ripping the Wireless to bits and getting in dirty with it at work and Ive got to say Im impressed...
Even tho I hate wireless and have just spent the past two days hard wiring the entire of my house, got 8 30m cables layed all around the house now meaning I can limit the WiFi to the front room when laptop usage is going on.
On topic tho what is it going to be used for? If your talking internal usage and power aint really a big thing, just bridge the network using a network cable and have two wireless setups one upstairs, one downstairs?
Sometimes having the wires going through the rooms isnt an option. For instance my computer upstairs is at the other end of the house to the router downstairs, and my parents only got new carpet a year or two ago so do not want to take it up to lay any cables under it.
Just buy a 2wire router, hack the software and increase the power and itll give you crazy crazy range. Sure your breaking all sorts of laws but youll have sh*t hot wireless!
I had another hair brained scheme that probably wont work, but want the best external length from an antenna and a signal amplifier.
If you can get a hold of this.This will boost your signal nicely but i dont know if it will boost N signal probably will just pass it through without boosting.

You cant get as powerful as these for home use though. The most powerful for home use is a 2wire.
There is no better wireless hardware than trapeze. If cisco could be compared to the rolls royce of cars. trapeze are the space shuttle of paper aeroplanes.
I can get PoE injectors fairly cheap.
I use a PoE switch to drive those APs. Same switch drives my IP phones.
