Celeron D 3.06GHZ or P4 2.5GHZ.
The celerons of today arent really the cut down P4s any more. They are still the budget processor, but effective the Celeron Ds are rebranded Prescott core Pentium 4 since Core 2 took over from P4s.
So on first hand glance the Celeron D should be a better processor anyway iirc.
and the FSB is prob faster. whats the cache size on both?
I have no idea mate, all I know is that they are both socket 478.
I have a p4 and a celeron sitting infront of me and only one motherboard for them.
i know a 2.4 P4 that i was running in a rig for a few weeks was a hell of a lot faster than the Cele-D 2.66. Take what you will from that, I ended up with a 2.8 P4 in that board though.
well Ive deceded to go with the P4.
I figure that as the P4 was the sucesser of the celly it might be better.
Cellys are normally cut down full processors. I would try both and see.

pretty much the same CPU core there, but with a 533 FSB and half the cache. The Celly-Ds arent too shabby, but they dont quite have the same grunt.
Come to think of it didnt I put up a comparative review some time back saying that the cellys were rubbish?
The P4 would edge it, but its like Mcds Vs BK - both are a bit crap.
why not spend half an hour benchmarking the two?
but do the celly first ;)
