Title: WMAudiov2 Codec
Post by: Clock'd 0Ne on August 23, 2007, 18:12:52 PM
Oh hai gais :-)

I have a .asf file Im trying to play in WMP 10, but it refuses to telling me :

QuoteWindows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file.

Running the file through Gspot (that nice decoder identifying proggy) determines that its using WMAudioV2 (WMAudio Decoder DMO). Surely I should have this as part of WMP10? The stream the file came from played fine, but the downloaded .asf refuses to. Any suggestions?

I always thought that .asf files were just pointers to a stream :o

If in doubt, try sticking it through VLC to see if that can play it.

Cheers guys!

I was actually on that site earlier aw3s0m3, it didnt help sadly :(

Ill have to give VLC player a try.

.asx is the pointer file, .asf is the actual content Nimrod. :)

Thats an older version than what I curerntly have installed, apparently.

I think Im going to get the stream down the old fashioned way, firing up Audacity and clicking record

Try installing Windows Media Encoder. I had to do that to fix a WMV encoding problem I was having within TVersity.
