Title: WTF Spam?
Post by: Tongy on June 08, 2007, 15:41:08 PM
I have had my private domain email address for over 2 years now, and not had a single spam email message. Today, however, that changed. I have received over 600 and its still going.

They are taking the form of "undeliverable mail" or postmaster@xxxxxxxxx.edu or something. This is getting out of hand.

Anyone got any ideas what the hell is happening here, I am with godaddy as a host, maybe someone else is having a similar problem?

Cheers

the sender of a spam email is using your address as the source address for the spam. get in touch with your isp or web host sharpish and get spam trapper or spam box or whatever set on your domain.

nah, I thought that. But two things spring to mind.

1. Its a catch all account (which I have gotten rid of now).

2. The email contains viagra/software/pron adverts...

Your address is being spoofed by the spam sender. Bugger all you can do about that Im afraid as he could be relaying through any open relay on the net and putting your address as a sender.

Ditch the address.
