Right, well im looking quite far into the future here, my birthday - start of september.
Im looking to get a console to replace my ps2. Now im looking to get a good footie game, possibly a good racing game mainly, nothing heavy tbh and no shooters as i cant play shooters without a keyboard! Couple of Qs :
(1) What price will the xbox 360 be by then?
(2) Would you recommend the 360 or put the money towards the ps3?
(3) Whens the new nintendo due for release, possibly wait for that instead?
(4) Overall what would you advise.
Cheers btw
<3 Coded
TBH, I think we will have to wait a few weeks even after all 3 console are out before anyone can give honest and good advice on things like value for money for one.
Though the way things are going, I would be extremely tempted by the wii, and possibly the 360 if I wanted a new console. Apart from the choice of hardware the PS3 has yet to excite me.
Save for a 360 (ProEvo and the next gen of Fifa will be out by then) and a Wii for interesting times :)
I think its what I am going to do. I want a Wii purely to play with the controller. I used to love my Power Glove :p
Since a 360 + Wii together will cost about the same price as a PS3 i would get the 2 consoles.
Also i dont like Sony so im bias :)
About what price would i be looking to pay then for the 360? wii?
Whats so special about this wii then? links? Its been awhile since ive taken any notice of consoles.
Whats the release date for pro evo on the 360?
Whats special about the Wii?!?! :O
heh sorry... its all over the net at the moment. Take a look at some of the threads lower down (such as the E3 thread) for some information.
Main thing has to be nintendos new controller... some people are calling it a wand - its a motion controller, look where you point style and looks VERY good :)
Its backward compatible with the GameCube games, also all the nintendo and sega games from N64, SNes and NEs will be downloadable :D :D :D
Both Microsoft and Nintendo have come out with annocments saying that it will be cheaper to buy both their consoles than the PS3 so you are looking at about Ã,£400
edit: Oh and about prices. Since you can pickup a 360 premier pack with a couple games for around Ã,£350 at the moment (Ã,£100 less than the release price of the PS3) and they will do a price drop before the PS3 is released :)
Coolio, sounds good. However the only thing im worried about with the wii is the games?
how can you be worried about Nintedo games?! they are the greatest! :D

i think he means the lack of games like gta and pgr3
most people seem to want rehashes of old games these days
scared of change if you ask me
Hmm yes i can see that problem but if coded was going to get both a 360 & a Wii then that shouldnt be a problem.
I would happily just have a nintendo console but thats becuase i think they have the greatest games, well the most fun and enjoyable ones :) but its nice having the option of getting other games on PC & 360.
Well tbh if ive got a lot of time then i rather pop onto cs source on my pc and have a bash.
However if in my g/fs room (at uni) then i like something to play incase shes gone somewhere or whatever, atm i have a nice lil megadrive to keep me happy.
Thats why im looking for footie/driving games. Nintendo in the past havent been great for games like these (please correct me if im wrong :p).
Im a die hard Nintendo boy, but Im picking up a 360 next week as the games are going to be so different.
The 360 has PGR3 which is meant to be awesome, and Test Drive Unlimited is shaping up to be very entertaining (think MMORPG with cars), not to mention Forza 2.
The PS3 could be in very dire straits, especially if the 360 drops in price prior to the PS3 release.
Wii FTW though.
Apart from Mario kart you are correct :)
I would say 360 then. Advantage of the Wii if you are goig ot be moving it about is its tiny! :D
I think both consoles are going to be kick ass, but the Xbox 360 is obviously the more affordable option. But if you really want a PS3 then... go for it. X360 owns all atm, infact you could get the X360 and a Wii for the price of a PS3.
Get the PS3...
It will be the daddy.
It is around the same price as the PS2 was when it was released & that still sold well.
Well, the non-crippled PS3 at Ã,£425 is Ã,£125 MORE than the PS2 at launch and will be Ã,£155 more than the 360 Premium, assuming MS dont have a price drop at or before the PS3 launch (which most people suspect they will).
I really cant see the advantage of PS3 over 360.

Which also makes the
non-crippled PS3 still
Ã,£20 more than the
360 PREMIUM.I have a 360, and will buy a Wii also on launchday. :)

not really the PS2 at launch price in nov 2000 is equivalent to probably around 380 by nov 2006 so the PS3 is only 45 more (that is only an increase of just over 10% in real terms)
considering what youre getting for the price (60 gig HD, Blue ray drive etc..) compared to what youd get with the PS2 back in 2000 - the difference in the launch price is justified.
The PS2 was priced expensivly when it was launched and it still did very well - the PS3 is slightly more expensive in real terms but will probably still do well. XBox 360 et al may well be cheaper but the PS3 looks as though it will be a superior console

xbox > PS2 - Still didnt beat it in terms of sales.

We should still have our Fairchild Channel F console somewhere :)
Pity the damn controllers are nackered from long term use though :(
