Dear Tekforums,

Supposing I want to be insured on a friends car for just one day, do we phone the car owners insurance company and request an additional driver for one day, or can we phone any insurer and ask for one day insurance. Whats the damage likely to be?

I looked into this a while ago. Turned out Norwich Union underwrite almost all the short term insurers anyway so you might as well go to them direct.

Tis occasionally worth asking your mates insurance company though, a couple of years ago I had my then GF put on my insurance for a full month for nothing.

Good advice anyway, for the £12 I paid though Im not bothered, it was cheaper than the £50 carriage costs.
