QuoteA BBC poll has found that 71% of people would vote against Britain joining the euro if it were put to a referendum.

So to Sam - tough :D
Public referendums are pish - I hope we never get one just on principle alone. Governments are elected to govern - not ask Joe Publik what he finks he wants every time theres a contentious issue...

OK, since you dont agree with public referendums on important issues we can just leave the EU then yeah?
Thing is; almost every issue is important to someone - where do you you draw the line? Joe Publik generally doesnt know enough to make such decisions.
& how many of those 72% actually knows the advantages/disadvantages of moving?
I would assume say not because they are to thick to work out the exchange rates.
pound to euro has already lost 30%, so were going to see price rises just because of the conversion.
If however we traded in the same currency, there wouldnt be that initial rise.
quite simple in my opinion, your in the united states of europe, or your not.
So we either join the Euro or we get out the blue flag with stars on thing completely

HooBloodyRay! - In or out FFS!
The UK has been busting it balls sitting on the fence for years!
Pesonal Id rather be shot of the lot, we pay too much for membership for not enough in return. Spain gets our money and France tells us where we cant fish. etc....
Mum asked in the bank about getting some euros for her holiday, currently theyre almost at a 1:1 exchange rate (£100 = 101 euros or something) heh

Obviously not, in your opinion, and youve insulted all the other members of this forum too. Then again you are Joe Publik too so shut ya face! :P
Then again, do you think politicians are any more qualified to make the decisions?
Quote from: CypherI didnt realise Brown was elected to power.
No Prime Minister has ever been elected by the people, you vote for the local MP not the PM. Although the person who ends up as PM is the leader of the party there has been several occasions where that leader has exited and been replaced, Margaret Thatcher and Tony Blair being well known for this.
Ive heard that spain are on the verge of pulling out.
imo as much as it pains me to say this i think we should join the euro, or maybe even skip the euro and go straight to the dollar

I wouldnt involve mself in any referendum - Im not paid to make decisions that affect future generations.

More qualified than young Johnny f**kwit, age 22 from Rotheram? Yes.

Obviously you havent met enough politicians yet. Some of them are Johnny and all of them make decisions on stuff they have no idea of...
Oh and you do make decisions every day that will affect future generations, same as everyone else you decide how much you are going to pollute the environment and a host of other issues. Even what you have to eat will affect future generations in a tiny way. It doesnt matter if you are paid to do it, you still do it.
I think you miss the point.
I dont want the Euro!
