You go to a Chinese All-You-Can-Eat buffet. They have a massive selection, it all looks good (as in, none of it looks badly cooked etc).

What do you do?

A bit of everything?

A load of just your favourite dish?

Are you strategic and stock up on non-filling foods first?

function EatUntilDeath() {
for(var stomach = empty; stomach < stomach.length; stomach++) {
if(!salad) {
try {
selection.everything('dessert' : 'false', 'meats' : 'true');
} catch(e) { plateOverflow }
}
//alert("If I die, bury me with the teriyaki prawns");
}

Serious

I always go for what I can eat. Quite often these things have a lot of meat dishes which I have to avoid.

Bacon

I prefer a Carvery at the local pub if i am going out for food, if i were to be strategic, i would build the sides up so i can pile more in the middle, if you go too ott it gets rather messy when pouring the gravy on. :P

Carveries are good but limiting the meat to one serving lets them down, you can't beat a decent Toby for hearty, filling grub though (breakfast buffets aren't too bad either but the bacon and fried eggs can end up stiff/rubbery).

My favourite will always be the chinese just for choice, I had 5 heaped platefuls last time I went on my birthday last year and still ended up not being able to try everything because there was so much on offer!

Dave

will tend to get a few of my favorites and then just grab lots of small bits of other random dishes... usually go for 3 plates

the one in Sheffield used to do duck + pancakes during peak hours and also had a mr whippy style ice cream machine for desert...

Leon

Like Dave I get mainly favorites (its Chinese, I like a lot of it) and then add some random bits and bobs to try... if I really liked something on the 1st plate I can stock up on it on the 2nd run.

Unless there are dim sum there, if so then I will just get plate fulls of them (there is never enough, small crappy 8 per steamer and ages for them to replace them!)

It's true. When we went last year I wasn't too fussed by most things, but Mr Fatty here caught sight of the Teppanyaki station and fell in love. By the end of it he looked ill and almost died (possibly). It took him a long while to recover and I've had to place a plate limit to prevent heart attacks from over indulgence.
