Ive finally had completely enough of my current job so Im going to find somewhere new. I know the CV help threads have been discussed here before but they were for business management and high up jobs, etc.

Im just wondering if anyone has a template/ideas/tips, etc. for writing a CV suitable for high street retail. Ive only ever written one CV for retail before but the way I wrote it was as though I was writing it for this specific job. But Id like to write a good and general CV that I can give to any employer.

Any help is greatly appreciated! :)

no real experience of that myself - but Id assume the same general principles as discussed in the other threads still apply - even if youre just going for a retail role they probably still like to hear that youre a well rounded individual etc..

(now awaiting some silly heated debate as to what order to put everything in)

Most retails jobs have application forms rather than a request for a CV.

So they wouldnt acceot a CV if I handed one in? So this could just mean a hell of alot of application forms to fill in then!

Most wont.

Application forms are all the same in most retail cases. All have the gay questions asking...

"Write about a time where you feel you used your initiative"

"a time where you took charge of a situation"

"worked as a team to solve a problem"

Think of as many answers as possible to those types of questions and youll be sorted pretty much.

Depending what level of retail you are going for (sales assistant for example) they wont ask anything complicated, itll most likely be personal info, and previous experience. They just want people who can work when they want you to.

Management itll be different, and you may have to apply in writing to the HR dept. of the company.

best thing for you to do is go to the dixons careers website, they own currys, currsy digital and pc world... i got my job from the website! no need for CV

Thanks very much!! Applied to Currys through this :D

During the part where it asked different questions like "Have you ever felt like youve done super well.. blah blah.." I didnt know whether to be modest or just say that Im the best. Decided to stick with answering everything as Im the best for the job. :)
