Title: Anyone ordering anything from Farnell?
Post by: funkychicken9000 on August 18, 2006, 15:07:40 PM
Its a long shot, but Im after a part from farnell.  Its worth 61p, but they have a Ã,£10 minimum order charge.  Sooooo, I was wondering if anyone was putting an order in with them, or knew of anyone who could be?  Ill make it worth ya while!

AFAIK the min order charge from Farnell is Ã,£20, unless theyve changed in the last month. If you can get the part you want from RS components I can sort you out though....

Cheers for the offer, but RS dont stock the part :(  Its a Vishay TSOP34838 IR reciever and amplifier.  Cant seem to find an equivalent part.

You can order direct from Mouser in the States; Ive done this in the past and it hasnt been too drastic; they dont have min order values iirc. - edit ship still $14 though :/

Actually, just seen the TSOP1738, which RS stock.  Difficult to tell whats gone on, but looks like maybe Vishay has renamed parts?

Do they look equivalent to you?  And if so, how much would you want for shipping me a TSOP1738 (98p at rs)?

do CPC sell it?  if so then find me the part number.  They are part of Farnell now after all.  CPC is about 3 miles from my house.

Right, seems I need a TSOP1838 (or TSOP4838, theyre the same thing).  Nowhere stocks these as theyre both discontinued AFAIK, but a lot of places (including RS) stock the TSOP1738 which is the same thing but in a bigger package.  Hoping that will fit.

Ceathreamhnan, any chance you could order me one?  RS stock number is 286-1419.  How much you want for P&P?

Remote control digital photo frame.  Handbuilt by moi, cept I pulled a pin out of the IR sensor and my extensive modifications (http://www.fc9k.co.uk/images/brokensensor.jpg) were sadly unsuccesful. Ill post some pics of the gubbins inside if anyones interested.
