Title: Bit of a bloggy post... and a winge
Post by: mr_roll on December 09, 2007, 16:05:27 PM
I aint had one for a while, so last week I do the silly thing of selling my Volvo and it hasnt saved money as I have to get the bus to and from work, well 2 buses. I walk past shops and cash machines by the bucket load on my way there and back.

So theres loads of temptation to buy things that I dont need or want as buses are the most boring things in the world.

I got myself a phone off ebay that has issues with reading the memory card I put in it when I plug it into my computer, which is annoying.
So I got myself a card reader as I needed on of those too, but then Ive found out today it just doesnt work and its brand new.

I was going to fix the tappets on the engine of my Peugeot, however the rain has stopped me doing that! ARGH!! and now its getting dark its going to be impossible and Ill have to get the bus next week too!! without music as the damn phone wont have any on! So I wont be able to listen to any music in the Gym.

Although I have a plan! Ill give the AA a call, get them to come and do home start and fix my tappets, maybe while Im at work. and itll cost me very little then! I rang them up today to see if I could get it, as they sent me a letter to say I could upgrade for £1.90 per month until May 08... but their system was down.

Then I have to get the brakes fixed and then an MOT on the car too... read brakes need a cylinder replacing and maybe shoes and the front discs and pads need replacing.

So this weekend has been a unproductive weekend to say the least.

So Im trying to buy a new card reader and a new MS Pro Duo card from 7 day shop as we speak but its not letting me, damn webby is to slow. I think Ill get them from ebuyer

Leave the cash card at home, take out enough at the start of the week to cover travel & lunch.

If you see something you think you need buy some beer instead.

Call the AA - theyll sort it out.

Sell the phone on eBay - if you hadnt bought it some other mug.

Chuck the card reader, they aint worth an RMA.

Buy a new phone. All the money youve saved by buying beer instead of stuff will cover it.

Shoes and pads might not be too bad to do yourself, rust allowing. Same with the cylinder. If you need to bleed get an e-z-bleed or whatever theyre called.

That bike I got off you.. I forgot to oil the chain and it snapped :( So I have to fix that too.

But where my mam lives is difficult to get anywhere, for example my dads house is about 5 miles away, the journey in a car can be done in 10 to 15 mins at a nice steady pace, however on the bus it takes about 1hr 30mins.

I could walk it in about the same time tbh.

Ive realised I was being a twat and the card reader needed an adapter, that I have luckily, so tried that but it still wont work :( my laptop says theres an I/O error on the device and my main computer just crashes explorer when trying to access the drive...

Its called willpower. Surely you can avoid reaching for your wallet on the walk to catch the bus? It cant be that hard.

Why pay? just push your car down the street. Easiest way to get around the "home start" rubbish

Tappets are piss easy to do!  Or you just go and find a car with hydraulic ones and dont every touch them :D

I have problems with money at times but Ive payed off all my debts at the end of this month and then comes the one big out payment for my insurance and a new mobo and processor then its save save save till September!

I agree, and if someone cant resist its easy enough to leave the money and cards you dont need at home. If you dont have the money with you then you cant spend it.

What was the point of selling the volvo if it was meant to be to save money because if you cant resist walking past shops without spending any money or withdrawing money out of the cash machine it has been totally pointless selling it!!

You need to have more will power Mr_Roll! :-)
