Just visited my local and got:
2 eggplant
1/2 pint anaheim chilies
pint okra
handful of basil
Beats going to the supermarket. Later on Ill stop by and do some weeding and pruning.
Start one in your neighborhood! They rock! An elderly couple was there picking their dinner for free. Woman was real country folk, who "thanked the Lord above" for the generosity of strangers. Quite touching really.
Thought Id share. :P
That really nice.
In the UK, such a scheme would be greeted with fires, burnt out cars and empty Tesco value 2L cider bottles, or white lightning cans strewn amidst nub ends and torn burberry cloth scraps.
Well, our meth addicts are too busy stealing lawnmowers, so its all good. Stopped by again to prune the okra with my garden shears and saw the maintenance man from across the street picking him some pole beans, gold tooth and everything. "Yessuh, I love this place, its a place for everybody."
After I pruned the okra, I proceded to remove any rotten tomatoes and wilted branches to invigorate the plants, and was rewarded with the most spectacular heirloom yellow tomato Ive ever seen 500g at least and shaped a bit plumish.
Got some pole beans too. 8)

Cardiff is pretty smart in general, my comment was aiming more at other areas of the UK :)
